So far, the show has some very pretty scenery, but I'm not much taken with the stories or the characters at all yet.
This is where I am (I also haven't read the book).
I don't feel like I got to know or care enough about the main characters, before they split off (and the show introduced a whole lot of new characters).
Kalshane, is
Thom
the
gleeman
?
I'm kind of an idiot about character names, when shows are new, and I have a harder time learning fancier fantasy-genre names, so I rely heavily on IMBd, but when the actors IMDb photos don't make the characters look like they look in fantasy costumes, I'm often lost.
Cindy- Yes. That's the one.
Side note: Amazon, in their infinite wisdom, decided to hide a bunch of additional world-building information in their X-ray feature, which is only accessible if you pause the playback of the show on certain devices.
ETA: Each episode has an associated animated short as well as a trivia section that relates to timestamps in the episodes.
I've seen the cast/character info before with Amazon Prime X-ray, but hadn't noticed the world-building information.
If anyone wants to figure out how to access it, there is a write-up, here: [link]
The article includes instructions for access it on a web browser, mobile device, smart TV, and streaming device.
Thanks for the link, Cindy. I saw a lot of people online complaining that they couldn't access X-ray on their respective devices and took the replies that "Yeah, that's the way it is" at face value.
I didn't even know it had the name "X-ray" until your post, Kalshane. I just appreciated the feature of seeing the actor & character names when I paused while watching.
So.... Cowboy Bebop.
I agree Spike was too broody, less cocky than the original. the only character I really had trouble with was Julia. I wish they had fleshed her out in a different way,
I watched the new version and old in between episodes. Spike in the anime is more of a dick than Cho plays him.
I'm just happy they got most of the music right.
I'm just happy they got most of the music right.
Thanks for mentioning that. It may just be the final straw that gets me to sign up for Netflix in January.

They brought Yoko Kanno back to write the score for the Netflix series.
I still need to take the time to sit down and watch it. The reviews haven't made me excited to, though.
I'm enjoying it. I'm only letting myself watch an episode a night, so I haven't finished it yet. But I like many of the acting and design decisions they've made. Although internal combustion cars seem a bit odd in context.
