Only Murders in the Building

Watched the finale. It was okay. A pretty thorough wrap-up. Some smiles, no laughs, no shocks. Meh.

However, the twist at the very end got me.

It did its job -- now I'm wondering if they will get a second season.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

Trent Crimm The Independent made some serious eyes at Ted in their last scene together in the finale.

And got so flustered that he locked his keys in his car.

What We Do in the Shadows: I was not expecting that at all! Dang.

What is even happening?

Did anyone else check out FX on Hulu's Y Is Yorick the Last Man? Okay, technically, it's called, Y: The Last Man, and is based on the comic book series of the same name, in which (premise spoiler) something happens that kills off all mammals with a Y chromosome, except the title character and his capuchin monkey, Ampersand. *

It was cancelled a couple of weeks ago (but they're still releasing the rest of it — the season one finale drops next week).

I'm wondering what people think of it. I wanted to like it so much, but it didn't work for me. Each week, I keep telling myself that it will come together any minute, but it just hasn't. It's a shame, because the premise is interesting and it has a pretty good cast. The showrunner said they're shopping it around, but I can't imagine it will get picked up. I don't even really think it should.

I was kind of vaguely thinking I wanted to watch that because I think Charlie Jane Anders was writing for it but I haven't gotten around to it and there are higher priority shows in front of it in the queue

Another Cowboy Bebop trailer: [link]

I have held on to my grudge against (and boycott of) Netflix for over two decades. This might be the show that makes me give it up.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I'm still on the fence about this. I mean, Jet is pretty much perfect from what we saw in the trailer, but Faye and especially Spike, seem off. Spike should be cocky, not broody.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Is there a rule that characters named Spike have to be cocky? just asking ....

Assuming it doesn't get picked up, I don't believe there will be any resolution at the end of season one (I'll let you know next week, but I don't see how there could be), so I'd put it way at the bottom of your queue, -t.

In re: Charlie Jane Anders: Yes. She is on staff and was credited for at least one episode. The writing has taken care with its treatment of trans characters (and makes a note to emphasize how many women and non-binary people died when all the Y-chromosome people got wiped out).

I didn't read the comic, but my understanding is that was a conscious choice by the showrunner, because it was something less fleshed out in the comic series. It's a big cast, so it's difficult to classify main versus secondary characters, but one of the characters who had a significant role in 8 of the first 10 episodes of season one is a trans man played by a trans man (and his issues are recognized, such as getting hormones, not to mention his precarious position, when he and his friend end up bunking with an anti-man group of survivors ).
