Watching the Jamaican team enter last night and hearing them talk about Usain Bolt was a gut punch. I want her opinions, damn it.

I realized about a week ago that the coconut purse she sent me from Jamaica -- that's been hanging over my visor since she died -- is missing from my car. I sometimes keep the windows open when it's super hot, depending where I'm parked, and I can't imagine where it else it would be -- it's just gone. (Although it also seems strange that someone would have taken that and nothing else, although there's never a lot worth stealing in my car.)
At any rate, the car felt awful without it, so I hung Dean's amulet (the Samulet) from the visor yesterday (I bought it with her mind shortly after she died) and the car feels better now.

Yeah, I spent most of yesterday with friends, one of whom is married to an awesome Jamaican-American. We were out to dinner and she streamed Bolt's qualifying runs on her iPhone for everyone. I wanted so much to explain ita and our loss to her but it felt like too much over a casual dinner.

The photo of Bolt grinning at the camera as he leaves the rest of the field behind is all over the place - it's a terrific photo. Someone said it might be the most memorable of the games.
