Will mark the dates, and hope I can attend.
ita's thread
A place where we can talk about ita, miss ita, and share information about memorials. The hugging started over here in Natter.
$239 for Best western? Whoa.
Yep. It isn't as bad as some city areas, but the Westside is pricey. And with LA traffic and size being what it is, I hesitate to propose places further away.
People might also check airbnb for local spots. There are some great places in the Santa Monica area.

Also check vrbo. com -- a quick check for Santa Monica for that weekend shows 10 places under $200, which sleep anywhere from 2 to 6 people (in case some people wanted to go in on a place together).
That would be really cool, to get a bunch of us all in one place. We can sit on the couches and post to the board at each other in our jammies.
Yeah, if we could get a reasonably-sized house-type-thing, that would be really nice (and much less of an imposition on the locals). I don't know yet if I'll be able to come, but if I can, I'd be interested in going in on such a place.
I was thinking about the weekend of July 18-19 if that sounds okay to everyone.
Well, it would be my birthday on the 19th, so there's that. :)
I'd be happy to go into a houseshare with folks.
Dang, this one [link] says it can sleep 14 for $500/night (which breaks down to...not a lot; I can't do math in my head). Even if only 10 people shared it, it would still be $50/night (I can do math in my head when it's dividing by 10).
(I love vrbo. I have no financial stake in them; I just had such a good experience using them that I pimp them when possible.)
I would totally be up for and into a group rental, as long as Buffista sprog were okay (or, if not, maybe the sprog-having travelers could get a space of our own or camp out with sprog-having localistas?).
A group rental sounds great.
Oh. Oh. Oh. I want to do this so much...which, given my 'haven't traveled at all since 2000'-ways...really means something.
My imagination does not stretch that far, given that I may be moving soon, but gosh, if it were even remotely possible, I'd be on it.
