Supernatural 3: Family don't end with blood
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Colin Ford was in Captain Marvel--as Carol's brother Steve. I can't remember if it was one of the photos or a memory blip, but I did recognize him at the time, just not put a name to the face.
He looks about as much like Sam now as adult Ridge looks like Dean.
Tonight was the season finale, apparently. We only get 20 episodes now?
All I'll say is ... that went in a completely unexpected direction.
Contract negotiation for this season so the Js got more hiatus time. I'm guessing S15 will be the same. Also, Jensen's directing again in 15.
I've...got nothing to say about the finale, except I never realized what a subtle actor Benedict can be.
It was great to see Rob Benedict, although it was jarring to be furious with him.
I'm just hoping this means the last season will really bring old-school monsters and some, like, FUN.
I think I'm gonna do the thing, guys. I think I'm coming home to Supernatural for the last season. I've watched so many vids and read so many summaries that I think I can do it.
I can catch you up!
Speaking of fic, I had the strongest need to reread old favorite fic the other night. Some of them are just sort of delightful now -- when S3 and Dean's deal was a huge thing, for instance. Good times.
I've reached a sort of zen state where I'm not watching from the hall, necessarily, but I'm just a notch off emotionally engaged.
Could be a general pulling back from emotional engagement, I've been neutral on scripted shows for a while (go gardening and home improvement shows!). I've even backed off of nature shows because they all end in "But the ruby breasted howler kangaroos are losing ice fields by the day..." doomsaying.
So my disengagement with SPN kind of goes along with that. I still enjoy and applaud good performances. I still mock canon flouting. I enjoy, but from a little distance. If I were re-engaging after a period of abstinence, I think a little distance might be good.
Plei, what was the most recent season you watched?
I've walked away from Supernatural for seasons at a time a few times and then come back. Usually, I've jumped in, then watched the stuff I missed if/when I felt like it.
Whatever seasons(s) you missed, here's what happened:
Sam and Dean were in the thick of it. One of them was presented with some shady choices, which he knew the other wouldn't go for, so he kept it to himself -- so he could do what he wanted to do -- which was a huge mistake.
They got pissy with each other and lied to each other.
Then something happened that threatened the existence of the world/humanity/the universe.
They got through it the best they could, which involved getting their act together and performing as a team, but there were losses in battle which caused them maximum pain.
The scars remain.
Not unlike the adultery pericope in in the Gospel of John (the Evangelist, not the Winchester), I'm not sure where to insert this, but it's clearly canon:
Castiel made the worst possible choices for the best possible reasons.
Tonight was the season finale, apparently.
Wait, what? Oops. I'm more mumble-episodes behind...maybe The CW will put the whole season online and I can catch up?
I think the biggest thing to take away from this season, as opposed to previous seasons, is that even though they knew God/Chuck wasn't really a team player before, now they know he can be truly petty and vindictive.
Otherwise, what Cindy said.
-t, I know the last couple of episodes are available on the CW, but I don't know how far back they go. I think it will go to Netflix, though.
