And Kaylee, what the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

Okay, I just mainlined the finale. I was sitting here talking to the TV ("if anything happens to Jody I'll never forgive them," "hey, Dean finally got to use his grenade launcher," "T-shirts!", "the Nephilim is almost here and Lucifer is on his way -- Cas, is this really the time to be going on a field trip?", "isn't it time for Mary to not be a better fighter than everyone else she comes across?") when Things Happened.

Because books.

I just keep coming back to how ita would feel about Cas dying. (I know she would be pretty gleeful about Crowley.) Although with this show, who knows. They've all died dozens of times already.

It was pretty cool to see Walt and Roy again, just for the laugh. There are so few callbacks to really early stuff anymore.

Castiel is undeniably a likable character, but I have to count myself among those who think he reached the end of his narrative usefulness long ago. He was introduced as such an awesome figure and then got twisted through so many permutations depending on the storyline (especially when he spent so much time being the butt of the joke) that it seemed like the writers ran out of ideas for him. Not to mention, as others have said, it really decreases the drama level when the guys have an angel they can call to ride to the rescue. Now with both Castiel and Crowley gone (assuming they stay dead) they'll be back to relying on human methods.

Oh, I think it will make the new season incredibly interesting to see them really on their own again, like the very early seasons, but I can't say I won't miss Cas.

Art Crawl!!!

I think Mary and Lucy in the Hell Dimension could be a fun storyline too.

Because books.

Yeah, that should be interesting.

Art Crawl!!!

I cannot decide if Cas and Crowley are really, most sincerely dead.

Yeah, that's the thing. Who knows? No one ever really dies on this show anymore, although I've long thought that's not really a good thing.

It did sort of thrill me that Crowley did it himself, although that also makes it more suspect that it's not really permanent at the same time.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh, come on. Jared let slip he and Misha were doing voice work for the Scooby Doo episode in S13. You know Jack's going to ressurect Cas in the first two minutes of 13.01. "Death" is purely for effect, on SPN. The Castiel-Destiel portion of SPN fandom is neither small nor quiet about their opinions, and TPB don't want to risk their fan base by permanently killing off a beloved, popular character. Bobby? you say? Well, popular, beloved, *handsome,* *shippable* character.

Given the writers' faulty memories, "out of sight, out of mind," so I doubt the brothers go into the AU after Mary, also because opening the rift will risk letting Lucifer slip back into this world. My fantasy is she joins up with Bobby and they hunt together. Though someone on another forum did prognosticate they bring John back to rescue her. Probably *their* wishful thinking, given JDM has his own series now.

I was sorry to see Rowena dispatched with no fanfare. I'm 50/50 on whether she and/or Crowley will be back. *Anybody* can be resurrected on SPN.

Things I loved beyond measure: Jody being staunch and steady throughout, and she got the kill shot on Hess with no monologuing, no hesitation. The "we happy few" scene, with Dean believing in Sam and telling him so. The "Butch and Sundance" scene, the intimacy and ease between them--and then Dean's a. thinking of the grenade launcher, and b. using it. I also loved like crazy the, "Hello, Lunatic."

Can't wait for 13!
