Emily who is now a critic at The New Yorker was a buffista, right? I am listening to old Ask Me Another podcasts, and she is the celebrity guest, and answering Buffy trivia!

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
She totally was.
My job has the craziest number of health plan choices! Which I guess is good, but it's very confusing.
Wait, you're closed but you have to work anyway? That bites.
The good news is, I'm pretty sure I can get Tuesday off. The bad news is, a crapton of work to do this weekend. Good times.
Any Boston/NH-istas and Chicago-istas in need of a good job, let me know. IT is hiring (Theodosia?), and there a number of admin/ops positions available.
Cool. Insent!
Backflung, Calli.
Ours switched over to HDHP a couple years ago. With the HSA, it works out ok for me, when I remember to do the receipts (for dental stuff mostly. The damned debit card never worked as advertised.) The HSA was poorly linked to the insurance, but that looks to be changing this year, though it means hoops to roll over from the old HSA to the new. But I do have the cash on hand to meet the deductibles if necessary.
They just this year switched to a ACA marketplace style set of options this year. About 4-6 different carrier options under each level (gold, silver, bronze) some nonHDHP available. Company contributes a flat amount per employee. It's costing me about $180 more a year, but the cheaper option would have been really inconvenient because it has such a small footprint here still. I think the coverage is a little better though. Deductible is lower, for sure.
75 laps@74:54. Done did get the lap average under a minute! And on the long swim, no stops, even!
I hope it sticks.
Today was a total slacker day at work. Got in and was whisked away on an impromptu field trip to Wave Hill (so jealous of everything they have!).
Had a frank discussion about the master site plan, then got to read a draft, which I was told would make me frustrated and angry. Instead I was amused beyond belief at the sheer half-assedness of it. It was so bad it was funny. Not just the grammar and the shifting tenses, but the inconsistency of what was being conveyed. The outright ignorance on some areas contrasting with way too much specificity in others. I've never dealt with one of these before, but I found myself craving footnotes for some of the statements it made, and wanting it to have a preface of what it meant by "historic era" and "historic core". The specificity was truly astounding in its lacking. Some of the sections were astounding in how obvious it was that the person writing it was simply reiterating shit from the last master site plan from thirty years ago.
But at the end of reading it, and of having new boss explain his own frustration and the futility of it, I really did feel better, especially his own incomprehension as to why I had not been involved in the process, because I've been feeling like chopped liver about it "let's make a long-term plan for the site without including the person who works every inch of it for the past six years!".
I still can't believe we spent so much money on this, and in the end, it actually doesn't mean a darned thing, it's all just "suggestions", apparently. A Master Site Suggestion, if you will.
Glad to hear new boss seems to be of like minds with you!
Loki's been on my lap all evening. Pumpkin's on the radiator. As much as I love having a lapful of cats, it's a clear demonstration of who is the smartest feline in the house. (Loki gets disturbed because I have to pee and stuff. Pumpki's only moved to warm another side. Belleh is displayed now.)
I think I've picked up all the discounted Brach's candy corn I dare to for now. All that's left in the clearance carts is the odd flavors, like pumpkin spice and Indian corn. Not sure what the difference in between Candy Corn and Indian corn, and I'm not going to find out. My stash of 6 bags will have to suffice.
Holy crap, turns out my high school football rivalry (Mayfield vs Cruces, I went to M) is one of the biggest hs rivalries in the nation. I mean, we used to play at NMSU's stadium and the whole damn town came out (mixed marriages aplenty) and they've since gotten their own university worthy stadium for hs football, but still. Never really got we were a FNL town. Well. I guess I did, but it didn't seem all that.
My first attempt at meatloaf has been a decent success. I'll need to up the amount of meat and cut the amount of oregano. It should be absolutely scrumptious tomorrow. I'm thinking I should make meatloaf and just put it in the fridge and eat it cold from the start.
