Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
To be fair, I think I would have been more annoyed if I was watching the webcast from the office (the talk was at our other location) and not getting any of the food than I was watching from my couch.
To continue a thought from several posts ago that there's no reason for anyone but me to consider.
Carry on, nothing to see here.
Ugh. The circuit court in Cincinnati upheld the gay marriage ban in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, and Tennessee: [link] My state is officially your gross bigoted uncle no one wants to sit next to at Thanksgiving dinner.
OTOH, this is almost certainly going to force the SCOTUS to issue a decisive ruling, and I can't imagine they'll rule in favor of the ban.
Man. This fucking week.
I need to put something down my kitchen sink, it's horrible.
Florida has a hold on the marriage equality issue until January 5th now. Gay marriage was struck down, but still enforced pending appeal. Then they tried to have it lifted after the other rulings, but still on hold.
I never feel good about things being settled at the SCOTUS. They scare me.
Ugh is right, Steph. I really hate the idea that someone's civil rights is a matter for a popular vote.

And the judge who wrote the majority opinion made it sound like he was being sooooooo fair and even-minded, all "let the people take control of their OWN FATE by voting!" and shit.
I am so full of raaaaaaaage right now.

Considering how many states already have marriage equality, and given that the SCOTUS struck down DOMA, I feel like SCOTUS ruling in favor of marriage equality is kind of a given.
I can't see SCOTUS supporting the ban after being willing to let the overturns of the others stand. It would lead to complete chaos legally.

Yeah, that's what I meant.
Still, my fucking circuit court. It's like being kicked after already being down from the election. Boo.
Timelies all!
Sorry about your butthead circuit court, Steph. (Yet another sentence I never expected to say)
Someone please tell me I'm not a bad person: Friend just texted me, stating that her boyfriend just broke up with her, and she wants to stay with me until she finds an apartment. The BF is here most nights of the week, so I said I'd have to discuss with him first. The problem is that I really don't want to say yes (there's bound to be drama), but I also don't want to be a bad friend. I also have no idea how long it's going to take her to find an apartment either. Ugh. Catch-22, rock and hard place, damned if I do and damned if I don't....
