Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Man, not only did I not get a change to read my election materials over lunch, I had to reheat my leftover lamb because it got cold as I tried to grab the occasional bite in between trying to process 400 lines of availability requests for my friends in Colombia.

On the plus side, I have what might as well be an infinite supply of leftover Halloween candy to help get me through the day.

I kind of love that. It feels a little like Mayberry.

That's great! That's one of the reasons I like goign to vote at City Hall, it feels very small-town-civic-pride. Especially whene there there's a dispa;y of artwork by Elementary school kids or something in the lobby.

Yay for Polgara and Jesse's good things, too! Both made me smile.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Voting was weird. I had to sign in and have my name crossed off a list at two different places to vote. Then I had to sign out to leave the building.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Voted, and ran into a friend at the polling place! Which is also the elementary school I went to. So that was satisfying all the way around.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Voted by mail in Colorado, but got to have lunch with a lovely lady who had her "just voted" sticker on. Made me happy. (Both the company and the sticker).

Our wings are not tired.

Good to hear they released you, tommyrot!

My son voted today so we all did our part. We were somewhat concerned because he doesn't have a picture ID, but they were cool and automatically pulled out the provisional, and he is registered so it will count. Now I have settled in with junk food and wine because I apparently can't stop myself from watching returns all night long.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I can't bear to watch our country flush itself down the toilet. You're a bigger woman than I am, Laura.

brillig

To people who have gone the Craigslist/Freecycle route: has it be an annoying process or fairly painless? I'm reluctant to go that route because I'm not sure I want to let strangers know things are available at my address, and there's not a lot of "doing things for the good of the community" spirit around here. It's more "Hey, I can get something off that person for free or cheap!"

Which I guess tells me I should continue to make bi-weekly runs to the thrift stores. Or bite the bullet and just throw things out.

Our wings are not tired.

Honestly I am more worked up about the Governors races than the Senate. I'd like to have some Governors that won't keep people from voting in 2016.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Ha! My father had a story about working a poll in Chicago when he was in college, and when someone brought up a Republican primary ballot, they assumed it was an error and threw it away!

I'm sure I've told this story before, but I was once in line behind a guy who couldn't get the lever voting machine to work and then finally leaned out of the booth to say "Oh, I know what the problem is - I'm a Republican!" Liberal bubble, I love you.

There were three proposals in NYC that I forgot to research before I went to the polls, so hopefully I didn't misread anything and vote the wrong way. Otherwise I'm straight down the line Working Families Party. (Same candidates as the Dems, but I like the local flavor.)

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Down here in Texas, I'm sure we'll continue our trend of electing smug, hateful white guys.
