I put saucepans and skillets in the dishwasher. The care instructions that came with them don't recommend it, but I do it anyway, and it's fine. And now we have a whole line of Farberware that's dishwasher-safe: [link]
Who washes cast iron? Is that a thing?
It's not really a thing, but some people do it. And newer cast iron does have different rules, I think, although I am skeptical. I myself am not as strict as your grandma - I might use water and a stiff brush on it if that seems called for, just no soap. There's water in the stuff I cook in it, after all.
Franny is upgrading her hobbit costume this year, so I am going to be an elf. I have a red velvet cape and pointy ears so far, hoping that's all I need. Maybe a leaf broach if I can rustle one up.
We use water and salt on cast iron all the time. And we basically almost always cook on cast iron.
I hand wash my iron skillets, but I never put them in the dishwasher.
Stopped by Tuesday Morning to check the yarn selections, and I found some scrumptious Swiss chocolate, dark chocolate with coffee bits. I wonder if this bar will last the night.
Oh, yeah, I'll scour with salt on occasion. That's a good trick.
And the cat box is done. I'm just going to have to do this every day so it's not an onerous task.
I made peace with daily dishwashing when I got cats that eat wet food. The dishes never really pile up to anything daunting that way.
Having a dishwasher makes my life so much better, but I still let dishes pile up in the sink. Ah well.
This morning's to-do list:
unload dishwasher
laundry (+ change bed)
vacuum
swiffer
straighten bedroom
bathroom sink
I think that'll do, but will I actually do all of these things before 11? I guess I have time post-Dad visit as well, so we'll see.
Blue jays at my feeder again. They're quite striking.
Woke up laughing due to the guest on 'On Being.' Better than the times the morning radio content pisses me off.
