The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Cosmo's safe return!

Sounds like a very eventful week, Jesse!

In good news, no work drama so far today (other than dealing with someone who is a bit of a drama queen, but there hasn't been anything ACTUALLY bad so I can just roll my eyes).

But OMG I'm irked at one of the dudes I shared a room with this weekend at the convention. I needed a place to stay (I'd planned to get a room for me and my friend Kate, but the convention rate was sold out), and was told "oh, Ben has a reservation and needs roommates!" OK, so I talk to Ben, he says yes, they have the room Thurs-Mon at the convention rate and yes she and I could have the other bed and this other dude Chris was sharing with Ben.

Turns out Chris was only staying Fri/Sat nights. And both Kate and Ben weren't staying Sunday night--only I did. But I didn't know that, or I would've tried to arrange something else. We each paid one night worth, on Sunday. And suddenly today Chris is texting me all "I shouldn't have to pay for the extra nights, you owe me $40!" And I'm like, if he had discussed this beforehand, or even on Sunday, I might've been more sympathetic, but now?? Ugh. I pointed out to him that Ben had the reservation, and I didn't arrange anything with Chris, but oy! If I'd been told beforehand I would have found other accommodations Sunday, and probably would've been fine splitting the room for Thursday three ways but now I'm jut annoyed at him.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Come home, Cosmo!

Work is weird. I work on both Federal and Commercial projects. I had a call at 2:30 with a bunch of other Federal folks who have the same responsibilies I do, discussing the problems we have been having since our accounting system went through an upgrade/conversion. Lots of frustration with no answers. Then at 4:00 I had a call with a higher up systems guy that I have known for years regarding similar problems I've been having on my Commercial projects. Got lots of answers and we pulled another high level guy into the conversation, who I've known even longer. We talked over all the problems I've been having on both Federal and Commercial projects.

I now know where the system update hit list is stored and I know who to talk to about getting on the weekly update list. I've also been invited to contact either if there is an issue that isn't on the list. I feel so accomplished this afternoon. I was a good girl and shared the information I gathered with the Federal lead.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good one, Suzi!

That does sound annoying, meara!

Have I complained here about my toe problem yet? I think I have arthritis in one little toe, which seems so dumb, but it hurts like hell! Just some of the time. So like medication seems stupid, but ugh.

No, it's not dumb. Tim has arthritis in one big toe, and it's pretty fucking painful. Get medication.

Probably just advil would help, but I'm just not that interested in taking it every day.

Note: I do realize the options are basically take a pain killer, or go "ow! ow! ow!" for half of my commute every day.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

No early voting for me tonight. Thanks, Obama!

It took me half an hour just to cross the river (1 block).

Jesse, that's totally an obnoxious problem. I hope it settles down.

as some saw on FB, as I was leaving the hospital I was working at today (in the dry dry California hills) two maintenance guys were doing something on the steep hill behind the one building I was in. One was tellin the other how to use what I think was a gas powered leaf blower? Maybe something else similarly loud and without cords. Walk past and suddenly I hear "shit shit shit help!" And turn around and see the leaf blower tumbling down the hill into the parking lot while the hill is ON FIRE. No idea how that happened but then yhe one dude was frantically kicking dirt down the hill into the scrub that was on fire, but also trying not to fall down the hill while he did this....they finally got it out but I was like "uh...should I do something? What??" Because I don't work there and wouldn't know who to call and didn't have any water on me or anything...
