Oh, yeah. There was this time I was pinned down by this guy that played left tackle for varsity... Well, at least he used to before he was a vampire... Anyway, he had this really, really thick neck, and all I had was a little, little Exact-O knife ... You're not loving this story.

Which, NB arrest or tambourine maimage? If the latter, I spent the morning shaking a tambourine nonstop for the Balt Marathon(half and relays too) runners. I tried to switch hands but I suck at left handed tambourining. I've got weirdass aches all through my right armature. Better than numb but sore hands from clapping, but still.

Got more than a handful of runners come over and thwap it. Next year I will do signs. It was kind of awesome when I got a clue to shout DANCE IT OUT (I was within earshot of the speakers playing Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray. On loop. For hours) and guess what? A lot of people would start dancing.

I'm not a runner, but I love cheering them. Those moments-when you get a weak grin, someone whacks your tambourine, the mouthed thank you to whatever you shouted, the pumped fists at mile 22/9, the held eye contact and a nod, watching someone clearly spent stand a little taller, step a little stronger, telling someone stopped with a cramp in front of you that there are gummibears and candy corn pumpkins at the light and water and Gatorade the block after and you've got to see the Eye of the Tiger guy in a mile, having them use your shoulder to straighten back up? And being there with the folks from my hood, including the senior residents, some in wheelchairs and walkers? (And on O2-'I think some of them need this more than I do.')

Why I love this city.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

It was the tambourine I was asking about. Ouch. But that does sound like a fantastic day!

In the back side of my second lap today a bike rider came through on a cross trail, saw me huffing and puffing along and called out "You're doing great! Keep going" and it was entirely awesome.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

The first year Tim's brother ran a marathon, we went down to cheer him on at mile 22 or 23, and he told us later that we got him at the point where he had hit the wall and really thought he would have to stop, but our cheering helped him keep going.

Can't run, will never run, happy to cheer. People who run marathons are badass (and a wee bit crazy). (Oh, and talk about crazy? There's a guy who runs the marathon dressed in a big shark costume. The whole 26 miles. That's got to be hot as hell.)

Always Anti-fascist!

Also, do not envy the person that has to clean it.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Also bon baby finally fell asleep just now after 30 minutes of banging his teething keys across the bars of the crib. I half expect him to burst into "Attica! Attica!"

Hee

I need to print out a sample ballot and make a cheat sheet with all the questions, proposals, and recommendations from the Chicago Bar Association on judges.

Me too. I wish I could find the site that consolidated a bunch of different recommendations for judges. edit: Found it! [link]

the responses from the Libertarian candidates made me want to claw my face off.

The senate candidate is a piece of work.
