No glass recycling? Weird.

The first annual Dirty Dog 5K was very fun! A really nice crowd of people and dogs. Walter started out wanting to go fast, so I did my best for him for a quarter mile or so. Most of the way we went at about our training pace or a little faster. Then, just like on our training runs, after about two miles (specifically, about 50 yards past the aid station on the second lap) he decided it was time to lie down in the shade and not run any more. I let him have a few minutes of that, and once I convinced him to get moving again he was willing to go at our usual pace.

Just before the aid station on our second lap, a guy was handing out cups of water so you didn't have to actually stop. Which I took advantage of, because, as I told him, it made me feel like a real runner. But then we stopped at the aid station so Walter could have a cup of water. And then we stopped in the shade.

They had divided the dogs into small, medium, and large categories for the top finishers. Woodrow's owners and I agreed they should have an old dog category, as Woodrow was 9 and Walter is 11 and we think they did pretty good considering.

Anyway, long story short, good race, will try to run again! Granite Bay SRA is a nice park.

Oh, and had lunch at what turned out t be a coffee shop that allowed dogs on the patio, so I had a cappuccino because Sleepy Hollow. It was not quite as satisfying as I had hoped. But eating lunch on the breezy patio was nice.

I sometimes feel like I should start running again just so I could take CB running. I think she'd like it.

I remember reading or hearing somewhere that glass doesn't make financial sense to recycle because it's (a) heavy and (b) really cheap to make new (because sand).

Running with dogs and zombies, lisah, pretty great. And the GotG soundtrack. Although this was a no headphones race, so no zombies or Guardians for me today. Running with just dogs, still good times.

Computers are frustrating. (I'm trying to learn how to use Git and Github. It's not working right. Not looking for advice right now -- just venting.)

I'm looking over the League of Women Voters guide for Utah. The first state Constitutional amendment would remove the requirement that members of the Tax Commission be appointed from more than one political party. I see the problem immediately, the ruling party will pack the commission. The arguments are "Why restrict us from choosing the best people!" vs. "The best people are only from one party? We weren't born yesterday!" I figure when there are rebuttals to the rebuttals, somebody cares an awful lot about this, so I'd better care too.

I haven't even opened my voter information guide. Oh, look, there's a supplemental one, too. Sigh, there's stil time for me to figure that out.

Man, my allergies have gone into overdrive this afternoon! Claritin and Sudafed are not making a dent. I am sneezy, dopey, sleepy, and grumpy.

My next door neighbor offered my mom space in his smoker today, so we had ribs for dinner. Delish! But now I'm so full.

Trader joe's has a new Hatch chili salsa.

I picked up my CSA today, so I ate a giant fuck off salad for dinner. Now it's beer and hockey time.
