Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter

Oh, UPS, you dicks. I work at home all day, in full view of the front door. And yet I got an email notification that a package was delivered half an hour ago, and left at the side door. Which is interesting, since we don't HAVE a side door.
It was at the neighbors' side door, which I can *almost* forgive, because these are the people who get a UPS delivery almost every day, so if it was the regular driver, he probably assumed it was theirs (AND the wife has the same first name as me). And yet that's no excuse for not reading the fucking address correctly.
Suzi, I'm sorry for your loss.
Just got one of the weirdly aggressive recruiter calls. Like, if they're snippy enough, suddenly I will be an Alfresco developer who wants to move to New York. I explained to him I'll do almost anything Alfresco wise other than code, and after drilling that flat he asks if I want to move to New York.
There's a reason people are different from OCR systems.
After getting some feedback today on what expectations are going to be post-reorg, I'm pretty sure I need to find a new job. So I've got that going for me.
Even the word "expectations" sounds terrifying.
Sorry to hear that, shrift. Hope things work out okay.
And sorry to hear about your friend, Suzi.
He was quoted as saying "I'm as baffled as you are" as to why he had the gun. He also said something cryptic about a problem with squirrels.
So, the squirrels snuck the gun into his luggage? Can't be leaving things unattended near trees, I guess.
I'm so sorry, Suzi.
I wish my product division had openings right now, because we kinda do need an ita and a shrift. We absolutely need a Plei, to the point that I've flat-out told my managers that once they have the approval to hire another content person, I'm bringing her in.
Cool, Jilli.
So I talked to my current boss and he said he wants me to apply for the position because I have skills the rest of the team doesn't, and that was nice. Whether or not I get hired, I'm good through April amd maybe for the next year, because the other contractor is retiring next summer.
Also, I turned down the consulting firm, and
have no heartburn about doing so.
Oh no, shrift! That bites.
I am irked at a hotel even though they took the charge off my bill--when I went to check out, someone had charged ~$22 in breakfast to my room. Wasn't me. Hotel took it off, but acted like they were doing me a favor. I'm irked because I don't know if someone wrote the wrong room number on their slip, or someone typed in the wrong room number when entering it, or what. But when I called about a different issue the lady was like "Oh, yeah, they took that off for complimentary breakfast" and I'm all "Uh, no. I had no breakfast" Hmph! (...I might also be a bit grumpy because my credit card bill is HUUUUUUGE. Mostly because it includes a ticket home for Christmas, my car insurance, and THREE hotel bills, which is a very unusual confluence of events, but still)
Also maybe you're grumpy because you had no breakfast?
Ugh, shrift -- good luck.
Good for you Consuela -- I feel like doing the right thing reveals itself pretty easily.
ita, are you suuuuuure??????
Even the word "expectations" sounds terrifying.
Yeah, it looks like they're thinking about changing my core role responsibilities to something I really don't want to do. Right now I'm looking at a) internal transfer locally, b) internal transfer & relocation, or c) quitting.
So I guess I need to dust off my resume and start networking.
