I have - somewhere - a recipe for a savory cheesecake. Crust made of crushed crackers (salty, not sweet) and a filling of Swiss or gruyere cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, seasoned with salt and pepper.

Want me to see if I can dig it out?

Certainly sounds delicious. Only if it's no trouble (or if somebody else wants it, but I think I was the most recent to be talking about savory cheesecake...)

ETA: eating unsweetened cheesecake right now AIFG

Yay for Polgara and J, so glad they were there for you, ita. So sorry to hear the ER was up to its usual antics.

I need to grade like a grading machine today. Instead I went right back to bed after getting the kids to school, and now I'm eating breakfast and making another pot of coffee. I'm telling myself those activities are grading-adjacent, but not sure I buy it.

Also is unsweetened cheesecake anything like a souffle with a crust? Because I'm not the biggest fan of the usual cheesecake texture, but that sounds amazing.

The savory cheesecake I've made was less dense and creamy than the usual sweet cheesecake. It was also intended to be more of a cheese spread - truly yummy spread on those little rye bread rounds.

I do have to dig that out ...

Do I want a Keurig coffee maker? I don't drink that much coffee, and while the containerization irks me, it seems the best way to do intermittent cups of coffee. Or whatever.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

the containerization irks me

Because of the waste? If that's why, there are doodads out there that are refillable cups that fit into a Keurig; you can fill them with whatever coffee you like.

(Despite the fact that my SiL works for Green Mountain Coffee and offered to get us a Cadillac version of a Keurig with her discount, we passed on it, because we drink WAY too much coffee to make it practical to brew one cup at a time. We go for volume around these parts.)

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Pete and I occasionally contemplate a Keurig, now that there are the refillable cups to use your own coffee in.

ita, I'm glad Polgera and J were able to help you.

I'm sorry I broke your day of the dead glass, Kat.

No worries, ita. I broke mine a couple of years ago. Are you all bandaged up due to the awesomeness that is P&J?

I have my students in the computer lab. At a glance, I can see on my desktop what they are looking at on theirs. It's freaky!

I like an Aeropress for intermittent cups of coffee, Connie. [link] Available other places, I just like ThinkGeek's writeup.

THe unsweetened cheesecake I've been making is Cook's Illustrated Dense and Firm Cheesecake recipe with the sugar left out. And I leave off the crust. It's pretty close to eating a chunmk of cream cheese, but freezes better.

But I can testify that souffles are not as hard as I had feared (although cheese souffles, not as cheesy as cheesecake) if you like that texture. Don't travel well, but you can't have everything.
