Quarterly new password day at work is being more annoying than usual. I can't decide whether I should have picked a new password more similar to or more different from my old password. I seem to have hit the unhappy middle ground. I haven't locked myself out yet, but it has been a near thing half a dozen times already.

My password for this quarter is going to expire a few days before the new quarter starts. so I'm thinking I'll do a leap password to bridge. 90 days is not quite long enough, and I like to minimize drift.

At my last job, your new password could be identical to your old password, save the last character. So I just threw a letter at the end. Luckily, I left there when I was half-way through the alphabet.

I mostly just tack on numbers to the end, because they have to include a number anyway. My work passwords are an entirely different system to my personal passwords.
