I want to take a trip where I don't have to worry about driving or car maintenance or things like that. Unfortunately, I would probably hate taking a tour group trip, much less couldn't afford it.

it is hard to distinguish an image search for hair that is pink, and hair worn by the singer Pink.
Though both fun to look at!
I need to figure out where to go on vacation. Someplace rural and quiet.
Otter Lake!! (I'm not there yet, but soon) Mountains, lakes, solitude or socializing. All good.
Eclipse in Iceland needs to be put on my list....
How long are you at Otter Lake, Laura?
All summer. I expect to be leaving soon and staying at least until Labor Day. Might stay for some leaf color.
Not saying anything PUBLICLY-publicly until I have paperwork, but guess who got a phone call with a job offer this morning?

Confidentially: Woo, Jilli!
Tom, I'm sure a lot of college towns would fit your criteria this time of year. We had a great time in Athens, GA -- with the students out, it was very quiet. We stayed just off the Atlanta Highway, which, okay, is a fairly standard "outskirts of town" (lots of restaurants, strip malls, the like) -- but you're about 2 minutes drive away from rural areas. Great food options. Some sightseeing but not enough to overwhelm.
I'm not too familiar with the Northeast, but I'm sure you could find somewhere a reasonable distance from your area.
Great news, Jilli!!!
Woo-hoo Jilli!!! !
