Email sent to manager! Self assessment basically done! Need to do a couple of small things, but officially out of the danger zone. Now I need to go to bed because I'm presenting first thing in the morning.

I walked 1.5 miles training for my Alzheimer's 5K, and did a yoga class yesterday and tonight. I am going to be one sore puppy tomorrow.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Baby crying in public doesn't bother me anymore. I even kind of like it.

Our water and electric bill came in -- $1400. That's right. Apparently we're somehow using 1000 gallons a day (I guess the house is floating?) and we're on track to use 11000 kwH of electricity over 2 months.

The water bill has been theorized to be a leak (again, 1000 gallons? Where does it go?!) and the DWP thinks that the electric bill -- which does not in any way correspond to the usage of two conscientious people who use the a/c a few hours a day even in this heat -- is somehow because of phantom A/C use. Like, it's somehow on without it, you know, making noise or cooling the house. Does this make sense to anyone? Or should I assume the neighbors are secretly stealing our power and water?

ETA: Rob went over the meter readings and they appear to be correct and this usage is consistent with the previous owner's bills, even though DWP thinks it's incredibly high. (Why would you pay that much and not get solar, like, yesterday?!)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Very good catch, msbelle. They broke shifters without explaining it long before season 9. Apparently Dean mentioned that the Milwaukee shifter (in the bank hostage episode) was a quicker shifter than the one we saw impersonate him in Skin (I love that ep--the usage of Inna Gadda Da Vida was some of their best musical integration).

Looking at the supernaturalwiki.com entry on shifters, they just say there are different types. I don't know if we see transformations like the first one again-- (did the shifter baby in season 6 shed skin?).

My youngest neph acquired dad's phone and called me. Baseball, puke and waving pillows (according to him.) Then he passed me off to the elder who is so much his dad a at that age:"nothing" that I mocked mercilessly.

And then my brother called me back and we had a nice chat and maybe one of these staycations should be flying him and a kid out here... I kinda love the idea. Short, with school, but....

Eek, Bon, that's not good! I hope you find a good reason for the water thing, and it doesn't happen again, but bummer about the electricity! Eesh.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

phantom A/C use

Magical thinking.

the neighbors are secretly stealing our power and water

Perhaps they have a secret hydroponics facility.

You'd think the power company would at least be able to trace the demand. Have they considered recalibrating or even replacing the meter?

Sadly, I am so disconnected with LJ right now. If I comment on there, it will probably just be my _art persona, because that's all I log in with these days, for fanart purposes.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I hallucinated the fucking ringtone of the fucking asshole in my old building who had his iPhone on that stupid blues ringtone and never muted it, even though it went off like five times a fucking hour.

Ahem.
