Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I buy my honey from local beekeepers, precisely because I want to make sure I'm getting actual honey, not honey-flavored corn syrup.
I didn't know about the corn syrup thing. That said, I buy my honey locally because a friend sells it. I've no idea if her bees are Africanized, but in NC it's entirely possible.
That is weird, Teppy. Any reunions I have seen had spouses. Huh.
So I see others had crap sleep too. I've been sleeping great, but last night I was having bear issues. Like at least 3 dreams where I was stuck in the shed with the bear tearing off the door, or couldn't get in the house because the bear was right by my door. I haven't seen any bear at all this year. Then this morning one of the guys I know here writes that a bear got in his car and made a mess. I guess I should be grateful the bear moved on to Rex's house?
I thought part of the point of reunions was for alumnae to say "Ha! My spouse is hotter than yours!" or "Ha! I'm still married to my spouse! And he/she still likes me!"

Right? I totally have man-candy to show off!
I just called my mom, because she used to work at my high school about 5 years ago, and she said they ALWAYS included spouses and kids in reunion weekend stuff. So that's a crazy new thing they're doing.
Whatever. That means my weekend will be free, so yay.
I would have thought that bringing a spouse to one's reunion would be fairly common even though I left mine at home. I was really happy that my reunion had a whole mix of folk from other years there so I got to see more people than I was expecting.

Part of me feels like, fuck it, I'm going to take my husband on a tour of my school (it's old and historic and beautiful, and even if the institution has apparently turned into a shitshow in the present day -- for a LOT more reasons than this -- I treasure my memories there, and I wanted to show Tim where I spent a really good 4 years of my life) even if spouses aren't welcome. But the part of me that hates breaking the rules is stronger. I don't want to make Tim be the only man among hundreds of women, and I *certainly* don't want to take him somewhere where it's clear he's tolerated but not really welcome.
Damn, that's rude as shit, now that I think of it.
What I was trying to say was that PETA doesn't seem to be offering any options except death for the sheep that are already there.
I suppose they shouldn't expect better treatment than all the cats and dogs PETA puts to sleep rather than make attempts at finding homes for.

Wha..?
I would really like to know where all PETA's money is coming from. I know plenty of vegans and plenty of people active in animal rights issues, and nearly every one of them hates PETA. I don't know anyone who's seriously involved in these issues who sees PETA as anything other than an organization that will do and say pretty much anything if it will bring them publicity.
