Zoe: First rule of battle, little one. Don't ever let 'em know where you are. Mal: Whoo-hoo! I'm right here! I'm right here! You want some of me? Yeah, you do! Come on! Come on! Aaah! Whoo-hoo! Zoe: Of course, there are other schools of thought...

Today at work my colleague was reading Buffy fanfic, printed, 3-hole punched, and placed in a 3-ring binder, while staffing the phone line.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, did you guys see today's Dear Prudence? Some parent is horrified that their 13-year-old daughter is reading smutty boy band fanfic, and Prudie says, "I can't imagine the authors thought their target audience was teenage girls." Um.....

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Oh, Prudie. So out of touch.

My colleague is in her 50s! (Also, from what I could see, and I could see enough to see it was Buffy fanfic, not smutty.)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I haven't regularly read fic in years, and yet my first thought was "hmm, what fic? anyone we know?"

I had a regular reader who mentioned that she printed out my fics so she could read them leisurely. I loved the idea of volumes of my stories actually on paper, on a shelf somewhere.

The software install that was on and then off and then on again is off again. I am completely over it and I'm afraid it is showing.

Oh, me too, Connie.

One of the nicest presents I ever got was a big pile of my Farscape stories, all printed out & bound together. And I love hearing that people will reread my Narnia novel on a regular basis. My words are part of their lives! How cool is that?
