I have had a morning of Fail. Went to the nail place, but it's full of a wedding party so no dance to get my way overdue nails done. Then I thought, well, I could stop by Floyd's and get my roots dyed, but they didn't have anyone in who does color today. Feh.
Did I miss any update from Jilli from her interview yesterday? I hope they recognized your awesomeness, Jilli.
eta: updated Beep Me and I sit here nervous over Mom. I do believe she is surrounded by loving family and has good care, so that part is good.
That is good, Laura. All best to you guys.
She sounds in good hands, Laura. All digits crossed here.
Did anyone else watch the Salt-n-Pepa reality show from a few years ago? A lot of it was about tension between the two of them, because Cheryl is religious now. So when I saw them in concert on Friday (!!!), I was wondering what the story was going to be. She definitely did not say some of the dirtiest lines, and when they were dancing with the two male dancers, Sandy was dancing up on the guy, while she was more near the guy, but mostly stuff you wouldn't have noticed if you weren't looking for it.
BUT THEN after the encore, she came back on stage and did a whole bit to "the believers in the house" over a Kirk Franklin song! It was a little much, and I could see how it would have bothered some people. What I did think was funny was how Sandy and the dancers came back out and were patting her head with a towel and fanning her off, James Brown-style, which sort of felt like they were making fun of her a little, with love. I don't know. It made it OK for me (but of course, I am on board with G-O-D). Anyway, good times.
We went to a Santana concert where he went on and on for quite some time on spirituality matters. It was okay, but longer than maybe people were expecting as they were getting restless. It went back to dancing and joy soon enough at the outdoor venue. He didn't say anything objectionable at all, but it was a break in the mood for sure.
There, see -- that makes me even more glad that it was definitely after the end of the "official" show.
Apparently he regularly shares his political and spiritual views at his concerts. It's ummm, different. Still wouldn't pass up a chance to see him again. Maybe if I disagreed with what he was saying I would have been more offended, but it was just an odd departure from the music.
When I was in high school, there was a mid-day assembly that was a teaser for a rock concert in a couple of days' time. We thought, "How odd, but cool." Many of us showed up to the concert. Midway through the concert, the lead singer start bearing his testimony, and the crowd of kids audibly groaned. Even teenagers in podunk towns recognize a bait and switch, people.
