In other news, does anyone have any advice regarding getting rid of yellowjacket nests? There are some that have set up shop in a hole in my lawn.
Two weird ones I'd heard recently:
1. Hang up a crumpled paper bag nearby. To a wasp, it looks much like another wasp's nest, and they don't like crowded living.
2. Apparently they dislike sliced cucumber, so scatter some of them around the lawn.
Or you could just pour soapy water into the nest at night when it's cooler. (Though I for one wouldn't try that without protective clothing.) Maybe safer would be to push an upside-down bowl into the ground, covering the hole, and leaving it there for two weeks. As long as you're sure you know where all the entrances are.
Thank you, BT. I can rig up some faux beekeeper garb and head out tomorrow morning with the pot o' water.
Romper reminded me: in Target's clothes section today, I had a flashback to the very early 90s, high school. Could have easily recreated some outfits I had back the. Floral baby doll dresses, overalls, denim shirts over crew necks, even the damned full pants rompers. Boxy cropped sweater was pure 1989. In fact, a friend posted a throwback picture a few days ago and I had to laugh because I had her same style sweater back that year. And she was in school out here so we weren't even buying in the same markets.
Best to tackle yellow jacket nests at dusk or dawn, when they're all home and less active.
IF you were going to describe your decorating ethos in a few words, how would you?
Ah ha ha ha ha ha! I was going to say shabby chic, emphasis on the shabby, but right now it's more like Clutter! Chaos! Tears!
Ahem -- I was asking about wasp nests just last week.
I'm surprised so many of your style words are "penguins"?
sweet heavens Taylor Swift is wearing a long-sleeved romper
I was going to protest that that couldn't possibly be the most accurate description, but it really is.
Penguins are obviously very stylish.
I was in the juniors' section of Kohl's yesterday, and it was totally 1989. I pointed this out to my SIL and she seemed oblivious (she's 7 years older than me, so was already an adult by 1989, but only 24, so she probably wore rompers too.)
