'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yikes! Hope it was more shake than damage!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Did the movie make you care about any of the characters? The book didn't, at least for me.

Not really. Tris wasn't as weepy, so that helped some. Christina is likeable (and WOW does Zoe Kravitz look like her mom!). There wasn't much development for the initiate relationships which was made more confusing with Peter, Al and Will looking alike. Ashley Judd, Maggie Q, and Kate Winslet are the most interesting parts of the movie though.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I woke up, but fell right back to sleep once it had ended. Y'all have more energy than I do.

Apparently only minor damage so far.

I cannot believe that's the biggest one we've had since 1989...

Huh, I misspoke: quite a number of injuries.

information libertarian

So, we just got an invitation to a wedding of a guy mr. flea work with - and it's Sept. 6. Which is a) my birthday and b) less than two weeks from today. The RSVP slip says reply by August 1. I asked mr. flea what was up, and he said, "Oh, the bride to be is in charge of the wedding and she just now let the groom choose who he wanted to invite," which seems even more WTF to me than being a late add-on since they realized they had room, am I right?

So, going to a wedding of people you've never met on your birthday - fun or not? I mean, presumably free drinks...

(In other hilarious news, the church is on Guido Street. Catholic, natch.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes!

Also, I still applaud you for TCB last night, Consuela!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sorry about the quake guys--I made it happen. I told my parents I was coming back for Christmas even with a new job, and they kept making up reasons it would be impossible so I said California could fall off too and then I probably wouldn't be able to come.

That sounds like tectonic plates waggling their fingers at me. With a massive lack of precision, but tectonic, you know.

msbelle--I got your back, squeaky boo. You have many SPN master enablers at your disposal. Use us wisely.

Pix, I understand why you couldn't talk rationally about it then especially, and I hope I didn't push you into further distress. Suicide is complicated and rarely affects only one person.

PS: My "yikes" was for the earthquake, but I'll give a hearty WTF to that groom and/or bride.

OK, it's time to admit you just wanted to be on TV when even the staff at Kleinfeld's is like, "Why did she come here for a non-white gown???" (Edit: If that was unclear, I am watching Say Yes To The Dress....)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Y'all have more energy than I do.

Maybe at 3:30 AM, but not now. Took a while to get back to sleep, and then my parents called at 7:30 to make sure I was okay (they were away for the weekend down by Santa Cruz and felt it there! I didn't think the shaking would make it that far) so now I am awake but very muzzy. Cursory inspection of the house is not turning up obvious damage, though, so that's good.

That might be fun, flea? Definitely WTF, though, if that's really how they managed the invitations. Which might make for a potentially entertaining reception if there's more WTFery in the offing.
