Of COURSE the stuff I need to finish today isn't ready yet, which is more of an issue than it seems, because the people I need to get it from are six hours ahead -- it's already mid-afternoon there! Bah.

Something elsewhere on the internet just reminded me of this, but the other day, I said something about Doctor Who to some coworkers, and none of them had ever heard of it. WTF? That just seemed so crazy to me. I'm still halfway convinced they didn't hear me properly. I've never even seen the show (and can't remember what kind of reference I would have been trying to make....)!
None of them? Surprising, but you never know, I guess.
I am frustrated with how many of my work conversations seem to be along the lines of
Them: we need it to be a beautiful day on Saturday
Me: well, I hope that works out, but I'd like an umbrella just in case
Them: umbrellas are unacceptable. It must be sunny.
I am going tweedy and rumpled today. Suits my mood. It's a "no meeting Friday" but I have three obligatory appointments in my workday and one optional but that's the one I actually am looking forward to.
It is nasty humid here and everyone is talking about how hot it is going to be for the next several days. I am all, "Dudes, highs of 91-93, even with swamp humidity, scare me not at all. That's like a mild day in George between May 15 and Sept. 15."

Well, we're generally used to a swampy humid summer -- this is a river valley, after all. It's just been so freakishly non-Cincinnati-summerlike (our Duke bill has been SO LOW all summer) that the humidity and heat returning is a little jarring. I walked the dog an hour ago, and I was taken aback at how humid it already was. But really, it just feels like a normal Cincinnati summer, finally.
The national weather guy made a big deal about it being so hot around the entire country, except the Adirondacks and a couple other places. Guess who is where and typing in sweats and socks?
Not hot here, either. I wore a sweater walking the dogs this morning.
Dogs didn't lose their shit last night, so maybe I don't have a skunk permanently camping underneath the house. But I should probably armor up and climb into the crawlspace tomorrow night after all...
We've in shoulder season weather already. Low 20s in the day, mid-teens at night. It's nice.
I am in a mood. I can't decide if I need to far, far away from people or around good people to get out of it. I already bought myself a dress to cheer myself up and that didn't work.

This summer in Chicago has been very mild until now. I've been counting myself lucky.
Fairly mild summer in DC, but not that much below normal. Lots of clouds. And pretty wet the last few days.
