I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm sorry, ita.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

So my older brother broke his hand after punching a table, rather than punching my younger brother. Mum says it would have been better if he'd punched Nate. Me and I'm sure Nate disagree. Her pre-surgery proclamation to kick him out has dissipated.

And she's over her post-op infection, thank goodness. But now she has a jobless son with a broken hand and an infection that grossed me out when I googled it.

I need to clean my apartment and invite the both of them down separately just to give them a break (and leave my oblivious father to deal with everything else --hmm, maybe I should invite them down together...).

ION, I continue to like my new boss.

Oh, and the surcharge, apparently they'll be sur charging me for another year, or maybe I have two more. They said three years of surcharges. I suppose it's a way of keeping me on my toes and instilling continuous fear in me regarding my registration and insurance. NJ MVC, you are bastards. Any way to make some money, huh?

Suddenly I feel like I'm in a WWI flick "do you have your papers?".

It's august and I've turned off the ac and opened the windows. Crazy.

Aimee, my mom probably loved teaching first grade the most. Congrats!

ita, hope your speculations are wrong and that you get your fall apart if needed.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've used the A/C probably three times this summer. It is crazy.

I haven't had a truly sweaty housecleaning while blasting the ac yet this summer. Unheard of. I've run it fairly often because it keeps the humidity down when it's just warm but sticky ( there's still some desert child left in me) but it's not been a razor edge battle - I never even put in the second one.

It hasn't even been very humid here! It's practically chilly right now.

We have had fewer days above 90 than usual, admittedly.

I thought y'all would appreciate this:

In old age, Bacall raged against what she saw as the mediocrity of contemporary Hollywood, as represented by everything from the career of Tom Cruise to the Twilight movies that her granddaughter dragged her to see. “She said it was the greatest vampire film ever made,” Bacall recalled. “After the film was over, I wanted to smack her across the head with my shoe.”

Instead, Bacall bought the child a DVD of FW Murnau’s 1922 classic Nosferatu. “Now that’s a vampire film,” she told her sternly. >[link]
