It's not a hoax. Just a terrible tragedy. I'm so sad. My friend C worked with Robin Williams on Bengal Tiger on Broadway (she was the sound designer) and she says he was one of the kindest, silliest and nicest people she's ever known. So sad.
Please, anyone out there struggling, don't give up. Suicide isn't the answer.
How forceful was the 'chute opening? ISTR ita has neck/vertebrae/disk issues.
Ugh. Did not even occur to me. Good thing I have you guys.
Robin Williams. Huh.
Suicide isn't the answer.
I know suicide has more victims than just the one, but I don't think it's a call you can make for someone else's life and someone else's pain.
Oh man, that is sad.
ita, consider this instead for the free-fall part, and paragliding for the under-'chute experience.
I'd say it's a final option, not one that you carry out in haste. But then I know somebody who planned ahead by at least four months, including buying a gun and taking firearms lessons, so that she could shoot herself.
I'm not up for a debate about it. I'm terribly sad and struggling. Of course everyone has their opinion, but I can't talk about when suicide might be a good option. I just can't.
Oh, that's so sad about Robin Williams.
OTOH, the Judi Dench answering machine bit at the end of Vicious was perfect.

For me it was not a thing, but my coworker's chute snapped a bit more, they said it happens 1/300 or 1/500 chutes. Not a safety problem per se, just meant they got jerked around a bit more and she had bruises where the harness was. So if that happened it would def be bad for ita.
