I wish you spoons, Cass. Yikes on the foot.
Cheesecake is in the oven. Now I just need to come up with dinner for at least tonight. And wash dishes at some point - I was keeping up with cleaning as I cooked for a while today, but I've hit a wall on that.
Watching Earth's Mightiest Heroes. This is way cool. And I love the soundtrack.
I shot things! Well, I shot 2 guns, and shot 1 target. And I actually enjoyed it, though initially it was freaky, because I was all "INSTRUMENT OF DEATH NOOOOOO." It's just weird to me to hold a gun, knowing that they're deadly as hell. But once I started shooting, honestly, it was like a video game. And I'm actually pretty decent at hitting my target. I have a picture on my iPod that I'll put up later.
We shot a Walther P22 and then switched to a .22 revolver. I liked the Walther way better because it was lighter and semiautomatic and I am lazy and didn't like cocking the revolver before every shot. And the revolver was heavy enough to make my aim wander by about 1/2 inch. Tim loved the revolver.
Someone a couple lanes down from us was using a shotgun, so our little tiny .22 sounded like a cap gun by comparison.
Verdict: I would go do it again, definitely. Still have a rather extreme opinion on gun control, though.
When I see a guy wearing an eyepatch throwing boomerangs out in the field, I am inclined to keep a really close eye on the boomerangs.
PS: Steph, that was not a commentary! Actual observation the past few days!
I've never fired a revolver, the balance would be weird for me. I fire a .350, nearly a 9mm. .45s are just too much kick for me to handle.
I advocate great respect and caution with guns, but it's good you've learned you can fire one competently. And you know how you'll react when one goes off. Way too many idiots have way too many guns, but I know if I'm ever confronted with one I'll be able to react more calmly than if I wasn't somewhat familiar with them.

Yeah, my hand is too small for it, I think. The Walther had virtually no kick.
Didn't you find shooting the .22 like floating on air? My first instructor gave me...well, not quite a desert eagle, but certainly some recoil to start off with and by the time I got to the .22 it was much easier not to react adversely.
Firing the revolver (I don't remember what guage) was very OH. GUN. OK. becauase it looked like fire was coming out of every orifice. But at least they don't spit brass. I was so nervous about hot brass.

The Walther P22 totally was! That's a great description. The revolver was just a .22 revolver, but it was heavy and just hilariously stereotypically Old West.

I was not so smart and wore sandals, and my toes kept getting hit with casings. But they weren't hot.
Now I want to go shoot guns.
We took another load out of my sister's apt, so now pretty much all that's left is the big stuff, like furniture. I should really feel more relief, instead I mostly feel kinda numb. DH is advocating for bringing more stuff home than I expected, so part of it is knowing I need to work on this end to make room.
I can't believe school starts Tuesday. Crazy.
Oh, I was going to say about the celery, I've pretty much swapped out celery for fennel in most instances where the first is recommended. Even mire poix most of the time. Stuffing is one of the only places where I feel like celery is tastier. But in salads? Fennel is delicious.
