What is even happening?

Hil R., did you get a new job? Yay, you! What denomination do you see yourself in?

Burrell, I had the same problem about seeing some pols as genuine. After they leave office, I feel a (LITTLE) differently, tho. Also, thank you again for your warm welcome. It's a little weird to come back. Mostly, I don't, but when something happens that feels like a Big Buffista Day, I can't not.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

David, did she find another Roman Catholic Church, or something else.

She's still with the Roman Catholic Church, though it's at a super lefty secret handshake drag queens and {psst! women's ordination} place.

What is even happening?

Okay, David, so I can still invite her to my not yet existent "CS LEWIS NEVER WANTED A MERE CHURCH, BUT WE CAN DO IT WITH CHESTERTON'S HELP" Denomination?

(Also, give my best love to your JZ)

What is even happening?

Also, David, because it will gratify her, please tell Ms. JZ I've been looking at the Old Catholic Church, which totally ordains vagina Americans.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It should not feel weird. B.org is always home.

What is even happening?

I think you're exactly right, Ginger. It still feels weird though, because I left in weird ways (my fault) and deleted posts and stuff. That said, after the Bronze, this board will always be my forever love.

Also, how great is President Obama.

President Obama has been crushing it this week with the healthcare and justice arriving like a thunderbolt and the grace. I just listened to his interview on WTF with Marc Maron today, too: [link]

Edited to add the actual link

What is even happening?

Thank you for that link, shirt. I've been meaning to listen to the podcast all week.

Also, this could come across creepy, but that's not how it played out. My friend Julie, who used to post here a dog's age ago, but hasn't since, first lured me to b.org, by linking me to your work-rant posts. So thank you for always being shrift-y.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Hil R., did you get a new job? Yay, you! What denomination do you see yourself in?

Yep, new job! As for what denomination, I'm not sure. Most of the services that I went to in DC where I felt comfortable weren't affiliated with particular denominations. I'm uncomfortable being a member of an Orthodox congregation, but I like their services. A lot of the Conservative synagogues that I've been to recently feel so much like they're trying to make the service accessible to everyone that it just feels to me like it's dumbed down. I want a sermon that delves into the Talmud, not one that references Jersey Shore, and praying in English just feels weird to me. (Those unaffiliated services that I went to in DC were mostly attended by other people like me -- people who'd gone through all the Conservative education and summer camps, and now felt like the Conservative synagogues just didn't seem to care about us anymore until we got married and had kids, but weren't comfortable with a lot of the stuff about the status of women at the Orthodox synagogues, even though the Modern Orthodox synagogues were the ones that had the sort of learning-based services that we'd grown to expect from the Conservative education system.)
