I'm sitting in front of our air conditioning. We just got back from a birthday party for one of Noah and Grace's friends.

We were offered jell-o shots at the party. ?! was my response.

Yeah, that seems like more of a snack for adults at a toddler party.

I think my internal metronome is off today. Seriously slow swim, like haven't been that slow since I was recovering from the stomach flu slow. But same # of strokes per lap. Ugh. Which probably means soreness tomorrow, because when I swim like that, it hurts later.

And now I will clean, which will produce a different kind of soreness. Sigh.

Meatloaf assembled and becoming one with itself in the fridge for an hour or so. Back under the ceiling fan, deciding between eBay pictures or blocking the shawl I just finished knitting. I think eBay pictures, it involves less moving around and frustration.

Supposed to hit 100 tomorrow. I would die if standard humidity in summer got over 25%.

Picked up my bib and t-shirt and tote bag and swung by my parents' since I was already on their side of the straits and my dad is leaving to go backpacking with the geezers tomorrow. Making vague plans for us all to go backpacking next year.

Need to be parked for the race by 7:30 tomorrow morning, which means leaving the house by 6:30. I should probably give breakfast some thought. Sunday is usually my leisurely make an omelet day.

I decided to make a Nectarine Golden Cake with my half-assed nectarines. They were too green when my roomie bought them, so they're still tough inside, but getting mooshy on the outside. Also means not a lot of flavor, so I am overcompensating with a combo of white and raw sugar and then a little extra spice in the dough (cardamom, I love cardamom.) Forty-five minutes and I will have a verdict.

I am wearing a Lands End fit and flare dress right now, AIFG! I wore it to work (with a fully-buttoned up cardigan over it), and if it weren't a couple of years old and faded by wash wear, I'd totally wear it to a not super fancy wedding. And it's as comfy as a nightgown, and looks as good on a ridiculously tall non-curvy woman as the opposite. It's sort of magic.

So I'm in my basement with 2 pissed off cats in carriers because tornado warnings going bonkers on my phone. And two neighbors called. For literally neighborhoods just north of me. Probably overkill, but um, never this close before and there was a really scary wind sound. Not tornado, but...

Loki is PISSED. Good grief.

Ok, back upstairs. Saw a bolt hit within a couple blocks,yikes!
