Because books.

I'm so sorry, Consuela.

Trimmed the bushes out front. Sadly without the hedge trimmer. I think the battery is donefer. But SAWZALL FTW! Decided a branch had to go, went down to grab the Swedish saw, lit upon the sawzall. So much less sweat!

Aww, TNG. She was a good dog.

I hope the sick kids are improving.

It's supposed to start storming again in a few hours, so I need to get out the door to run errands and be back inside doing laundry when the rain comes.

We won at hockey last night. Next game is in Chicago on Monday, and the city is gonna be straight up BONKERS because we could win the Stanley Cup on home ice.

Pruning via sawzall is cracking me up.

Good training run (by which I mean walk/jog) this morning. I less-than-3 my heart rate monitor. And I think I can talk myself out of any more fiddling with spreadsheets until tomorrow (unless I decide to get on top of my finances like I should, but that would at least be different spreadsheets...)

Oh, basketball finals tonight, I should probably watch that. Or at least find out when it's on. I don't follow basketball, like, at all but I just cannot wrap my head around the Warriors doing well. That's the one thing I knew, that the Warriors were terrible, but I guess it isn't true anymore.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Consuela, I am so sorry. We never get enough time with them, but you made such a difference in her life.

shrift, I will note that there is a major tech-bus stop not 2 blocks from my apartment, right in front of a sushi restaurant. (Not one I'd recommend, actually, but still.)

I am so Not A Fan of the NBA, and everyone assumes that I watch because I am a very public sports fan, and I'm happy for my friends who are Warriors fans, but good gods I'll be happy when it's over.

OTOH, go Blackhawks! Also, USA Women's Soccer!

Adventures in Cooking continue! Please share your favorite guacamole recipes, keeping in mind that cilantro tastes like soap to me and raw peppers give me acid burns. I have had some guacamole that made me want to lick the bowl clean and some that made my mouth go numb from peppers. There must be a way that this Middle-American with mid-century tastes can recreate the ne plus ultra of guacamole.

Guac: Finely chop shallots (or red onion) & garlic (quantity in proportion to how much you like said flavors & how many avocados you have)
Put the shallots & garlic in the bowl to be used for guac
Squeeze half a lime over the shallots & garlic
Wait 5-10 minutes
Peel avocados, squeeze the other half of the lime over them, & smoosh them in
Add salt & pepper to taste
Devour

Punishingly Intricate

If there's a salsa you like, Connie, a super easy guac-like thing to do is mash avo with a few spoonfuls of the salsa. My Texan dad doesn't put peppers in his awesome guac. It's just onion, avocado, tomato, salt and pepper. And, duh, lots of fresh lime juice!

My standard guacamole recipe, such as it is: make salsa however you like it (and if that is by opening a jar, fine, I believe chopped up tomatoes and onions was the standard I learned). Add avocado and smoosh all together. Lime juice because always add lime juice.

I hardly ever do that, though. Just avocado and a spoon for me, mostly. In fact, that might be lunch...

Nope, gonna save the avocado for tomorrow, they make such good take-to-work lunches. Today I will see if I can reinstall a soufflé.
