Not sure. I'm leaning toward SF but I haven't actually looked at anything down in the peninsula yet. I don't want to own a car, though.

Well they famously have buses which will take you from SF to your new job. I can tip you to the neighborhoods which facilitate that, though you probably already have a sense.

If you're going to go carless, commuting with bikes is common on the peninsula. But I have the feeling SF proper will be more to your liking since you're coming straight from Chitown.

Yes, I have taken those buses like the tech asshole that I am. We also have internal maps, but I am in information-gathering mode so I'll take all tips.

But I have the feeling SF proper will be more to your liking since you're coming straight from Chitown.

I do like living in a city proper, this much is true.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I don't know if I can envision shrift commuting on a bike.

I have some friends who relocated there in the past couple of years. They moved with toddler and pregnant, (plus going 2 salaries to 1+ school) so had different priorities, but might have insight to the relo experience and cola shift. Let me know if you want their contact info. I think they ended up out in Emeryville?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

You could live out by me and commute by train!

Not really, it would be extremely impractical, but fun for me. I can't even you offer sushi near the train station, that restaurant is Italian now. But what could be more citified than the City of Suisun City? (answer: many many places. There's a cow pasture a quarter mile from downtown and the tallest building is three stories if you count the bell tower)

I just lit a fireplace match with a kitchen torch so I could light my candles. Because I couldn't get the striking surface on the box of matches to work and I knew where the torch was.
