Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

And fluffy cats, well, there's no better bling especially if you are trying to take over the world.

I would argue that hairless cats are equally good bling for those who aspire to take over the world.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'll accept that.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I posted this on facebook but just in case - the Wall Street Journal posted a video comparing American Pharoah and Secretariat's Belmont Stakes. So damn cool.

American Pharoah was a mere 2.65 seconds slower than Secretariat. Holy wow. But look at the field - there wasn't another horse anywhere near Secretariat in the last quarter. That means almost every horse on the track with Pharoah was faster than the horses that ran against Secretariat. ION, I called Frosted and Keen Ice to place and show when they were all walking onto the track. I should've bet.

I have to remember to spell American Pharoah's name correctly, which is incorrectly. It's amusing. Now everyone will be spelling Pharaoh wrong.

It makes my brain hurt a little, but I'm getting used to it (the spelling).

Other department still has not acknowledged that my instructions were correct, but we have a fix in place to avoid the problem in the future (said fix being that I get rid of all extraneous information so they can't possibly be confused, so I guess that's tacitly saying that I know what I'm doing, sigh)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

The shorthand is a fifth of a second equals a length, so 2.65 is a lot. It's also worth noting that, because the pace was much slower in the early stages, this year's finishers were fresher. AP rated. Secretariat burned out Sham and the rest of the field and set fractions that would have been good times for a races of those lengths: 1.09 and change is a good time for a 6 furlong sprint race.

Also, people on Deadspin who talk like they know racing and don't make me roll my eyes. One person was talking about races being overall faster if you had rabbit like Secretariat, and I was thinking, dude, you don't even know what a rabbit is in race terms, you nit.

(A stablemate, generally entered to set a fast early pace and burn out the competition for the other horse.)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Thanks for the well wishes. DH's father is okay, but still feels pretty bunk. Franny's fever finally went away, so now we just need to deal with the head cold part of it.

Phantom puking is a feline talent.

Don't worry - you'll find it someday. Possibly in the worst possible way.

sumi made me laugh. Sorry, Jesse.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, I don't want to do any work! I have been chipping away at stuff for a week or more, with no big projects and no big progress, and it's making me crazy. And not that effective. Maybe I will take a day off next week.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Yesterday was a very long day, and I'm groggy and exhausted. I think I probably inhaled a lot of mold while I was volunteering yesterday, because the task we had was sorting and repacking bread. Mm, mold. I am allergic to you.

Then there was hockey anxiety, plus I walked about 8 miles and then got very little sleep. I'm glad I decided to take a half day tomorrow, because I need me some nappy-times.

Me too. My house smells awful. I'm sure that whatever gunk was trapped in the carpet before the soaking is now being flung into the air by the giant fans. I have an air purifier, but it's in the room I can't get into. *cough* Hopefully we'll be done with this tomorrow.
