All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Michigan and Lake. It's not good.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I have these Crocs - [link]

They have a fabric upper, so no sweaty foot issues. And they don't look like Crocs, so I wear them everywhere.

Brenda, what about a stain in a reddish wood tone, like a cedar or a redwood? It would be a contrast with the green and warm things up at the same time.

Oh man. Yeah, that's right by me.

That' could be a nice option.

I concur. But not too orangey. If you've got any loose pieces, pull them up and try sample stains on a side that can be hidden later. And I highly recommend having it powerwashed with a cleaner first. Including the board for the sample. It will stain more evenly and be truer to the advertised color (so less guesswork.)

Remember, it's easier to go darker, but more work to go lighter if you change your mind. Forgive all the advice, I know you're hiring it out so they' would know what they're doing. I just have lots of experience with staining...

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Brenda, what about something like Sage Brush, Mountain Brush, Bark Mulch or Bark? [link] I know Cabot has color chips and samples.

I appreciate it, for sure. It will be power washed, sanded etc first.

Also, there are stains that have more paint pigment (more opaque) if you find the wood too uneven for a traditional stain. That's probably common for deck stains.

Punishingly Intricate

Yikes about that bus crash. I'm glad Bob's home this week; that's around the corner from where he stays. I'm in NC watching my nephew watch Bill Nye episodes. I probably shouldn't have let him watch so many but, uh, SCIENCE!
