Just put Hubby's old military history and plastic modeling magazines on eBay. I'd like to see a fair amount for them, but primarily I want them to go to people who will go "Oh, yes, cool!" instead of into the recycling bin. He dragged them around the world since the '70s, I'd like to see them appreciated.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Then when I went to go buy another one a year later? No longer made. Like it never even existed. *poof*
Oh, no! What a pain.
I feel a sudden urge to buy six dozen bras and horde them like a lingerie obsessed dragon. They'd make a more comfortable nest than gold.
I hope you find a good home for them, Connie. My sister and I had a similar issue with Dad's rock collecting supplies and the collection itself. Everything was so heavy we didn't see how anyone would be willing to pay shipping for it. Luckily the one cousin who bothered to come to the funeral was also an earth sciences teacher, and she was thrilled to take everything for her classroom.
I carried Melisa's stuff, what was left with me, around with me in 12 moves across three states and 20 years. I slowly let go of some of it, bit by bit. Two days ago, I dropped off her little Mission-style maple desk at the ASPCA thrift shop. She'd be happy the money from her desk will go to help the cats and dogs. I thought I'd cry, leaving it there, but I was relieved. There are still some small things, but that's the last of the large pieces that were hers. I'll keep a couple things that I can look at with fondness instead of sorrow, but it's time to pull it all out and give it to someone who can use it and enjoy it, instead of keeping it packed in boxes or sitting around holding bad memories.
Twenty years. Seems impossible. Man, she would have loved the Internet.
Timelies all!
Concert was good, except for having to stand the whole time.(As we bought the tickets two weeks ago, we ended up on the "party deck", where there are few chairs.) My lower back is not happy.
{{Zen}} That is good to read. Recognizing that it is time to do the thing that was impossible before, well done.
My get up and go has got up and went.
Everyone, please send a good thought that my bilingual coworkers are finishing the one thing I need done today, so I don't have to half-ass my way through it! Otherwise, my finishing-up work today was pretty painless.
Good for you, Zen.
And fingers crossed for you Jesse that your coworkers come through.
I need a project for my peoples today, or all will go to hell in a handbasket soon. Ugh. I am promoting exercise of some sort based on last weekend's hike.
I was starting to get anxious because I haven't heard anything yet, but it's not even 2! Plenty of time.
Maybe I'll go to the supermarket.
I slept in today. skipped church. head kinda hurting, I think because the rain is finally stopping for a bit, so the pressure is changing back.
I am trying to get some stuff done, like beyond just the base level that I manage, I need to get to some of the stuff that never gets done.
Regular stuff I've done and the schedule they should be done on:
clean and refill cat letter (ideally, twice daily)
sweep cat area of kitchen and change out pee pads as needed (ideally daily)
put away washed dishes (eh, I really don't mind a full drain rack)
wash dishes (ideally whenever there are some in the sink, every couple of days)
put away groceries (whenever bought, same day - these were bought yesterday)
wipe kitchen counters (after any food prep and/or every couple of days due to yuck and cats)
feed animals (twice a day, mac should take care of dog, but I left him sleeping)
chair slipcovers into dryer for air fluff ie: de pet hairing (once a week - the only way to stay on top of hair)
folded remainder of laundry (ideally laundry would be put away within a day of being done)
Now what I need to do:
Vacuum the living room rug and the chairs (should be done once a week)
Finish moving a bookshelf from front LVG to back LVG (one time thing, ongoing moving of furniture, this has been going on for weeks)
take pictures and list at least 5 things for sell (again ongoing stuff for me, moving way slower than I want because I am a sloth)
clean cat beds (this should really be done once a week also, they are gross)
make blueberry scones (mac is home alone this coming week and I told him I'd make some for him to have as breakfasts/snacks)
make mac a schedule for coming week - chores/reading/trombone (he will have these for every week that he is not in a summer activity)
start new bag for non-selling get rid of stuff
I may have a friend coming over today for re-watching Arrow from the beginning, so I should start on this stuff, huh. Maybe a shower first, or at least get dressed.
My mom, I swear, she does not get my life.
Emailed me yesterday at 9:21pm about a friend of hers that has tickets to a concert thing that my mom thinks maybe mac would want to go with if he could take a friend. Symphony playing video game/sci fi music with a laser light show. ok, fine, good idea for trying to get the kid who never wants to do anything to do something. I lament a lot about how mac never wants to go to music things, museum things, street fair/fest things. Mentioned it yesterday to her, in fact, over lunch.
So she emails me now. did you get the email. not even a day later. The concert is in 3 weeks. If your friend needs to know by a specific time if we want the tickets, let me know that in the initial email.
So my response. Yes, I got it. mac says "I don't know". I told him I need a yes/no answer today so we can let the people know.
