brillig

It was frozen in a bag that was designed for steaming in, so it's already cooked. Payday's tomorrow, so I'll find a small bundle and do a test run. I'm willing to absorb the $2.50 cost of what I didn't eat.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Roasted asparagus is delicious. I also like to cut it in small lengths and saute it.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Glad Tim (and his piercings) are doing well!

We are about to renovate the bathroom. The DH is out of town and I had to stay home from work to let the window replacement guys in to work, and to keep dogs and cats locked up in the office with me, so they wouldn't: A. Bark insanely B. Try to escape their hellish imprisonment with people who cater to their every whim C. Bonk their heads on the workman's leg to alert them that petting should be administered and/or D. Supervise by standing on the area to be worked on.

They weren't going to start until June 15th, but the contractor said another job was way easier than they thought, so they can start on Friday. Yikes!

not your mom's socks.

I read this as telling him to next time explode his lung into blue confetti instead of just collapsing. Which is not a good plan.

Nooo not a good plan. Here's to Tim's continued recovery, and painkillers. Steph, I keep wanting to bake you something, but Philly >> Cincy. Where is the teleporter?

my family does not love asparagus or brussell sprouts as I do. It is tragedy.

I've been awake since 4:30. This is probably not the best way to go into 3 days of Javitts Center. I wish I could tell my brain that. Or anything else. brain has been marching to its own drummer of late. Grump. Hopefully I will not put my foot in my mouth too badly.

Jessica - I hope you win. Do buyers still write letters to the homeowner? We were in a bidding war and did something like that [holy crap how long ago now?] and the seller said it made a difference.

Right. I will be calm and not panic. ahahaha.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Yeah, we did that with our first offer. Our broker says about half the time it helps and the other half it backfires, so we'll see!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Oh god so tired.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck, Jess! You too, Steph!

So the rescue people said Miss Hazel is 11, but I was looking through the vet records they sent along, and they say she is 13! She is awfully spry for an old lady, but it kind of makes me wonder how long we'll actually have.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I too was going to ask about letters, Jessica.

Oh man, Steph, it sounds like you've had a terrifying day. Hope Tim recovers super fast.

Our hot water heater died. So, I'm headed to the gym. I would have gone swimming anyway, I think, but forced to go is something different.

Librarian Warlord

Lung-ma to Tim! Just in case, I do hope you've had them check for the plague, Teppy.

We are meeting with the architect this afternoon to work on plans for our renovation. This was spurred on by the fact that last Thursday morning, the DH called to tell me he was on the way to the ER with his uncle, who had fallen down our stairs. He fractured a vertebra, and will probably need some surgery. Time to get serious about widening the stairs and bringing them up to code, yo.

An hour later my mother called to tell me that my Dad was in the hospital with chest pain (eventually they ruled out another heart attack -- so, you can tell your Dad we don't this this was cardiac, Sox).

Oh no, Sparky! Your family needs some TLC.

I am feeling weirdly proud of myself for rejecting someone within 15 minutes of starting the phone screen. I hope I actually gave her good feedback -- she had applied for this job more or less at random, and there actually could be a better fit for her in the organization, just not in my department.
