Yay Hazel!

Kat, I remember that stove! The original stove in my apartment also had a constantly on pilot. Devi used to sit on it. I can't imagine having that in my current hkitchen in the summer (though I'm sure there was one originally.)

Good luck, Jess. Neat house.

Soon as floors dry, shower and then pick up things I forgot yesterday.

Poor meara's kitten. They might want to give him an appetite stimulant.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yay, Hazel! Jesse, could she possibly, perhaps, maybe, use a sibling? A tall, dark and fuzzy sibling? You think?

Heh. Hazel is freaked out by other cats, apparently. And the rescue lady said the black cat "isn't showing well" -- after a couple of people touch her, she starts swiping. Oops. She (rescue lady) agreed that she's probably not the cat for me.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Aw, now I want to go adopt all the black cats. That would make my old lady cats pretty angry, though, and they have been pleased with me lately.

Good luck, Jess!

Was the date oculagyric or just the idea of going on a date, Amy?

Sorry about the car, Lee. I hope it doesn't cause too much hassle.

I feel like I have been doing yard work forever but it has only been two hours. OTOH, not done yet, so it could still work out to be forever. I'm thinking maybe the rosh bush can fight it out with the blackberries that are trying to come up in its vicinity rather than me trying to be the enforcer in that corner.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

ADULTING IS SO HARD. On the plus side, we are pre-approved to buy the pretty house, and a realtor is coming to help us sell our current place this week. Now I think I deserve some ice cream and maybe a nap.

AHRG ANTS.

I've been seeing some come in the sill, but couldn't figure out where they were going.

Found it: golden syrup bottle in the cupboard. For trace amounts, it wasn't even sticky and cap closed. So now that's in a ziplock and they're rooting around for something else. Which they shouldn't find, I keep things pretty locked down. But they will.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

AHRG ANTS.

Used coffee grounds at the entrance point. Seriously. I tried so many things that would work for a day or two. I think it's been two years since I sprinkled coffee grounds into the crack in the floor and I haven't seen ants inside since.

I want to see Mad Max but I the show I've been working on has so much video assaulting the senses that I think I need to take a day of relative quiet. Maybe tomorrow.

Can't sprinkle on vertical surfaces. I've got diatomaceous powder, but will only use that if they don't go away because messy.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Wow, Jessica, that house is beautiful! I hope you get it. The bathtub in the middle of the large room reminds me of my brother's farm: they have that kind of setup, too. It's a bit odd, but entertaining.

I just spent an hour cutting back the overgrown pomelo tree next to my house. For the last few years it has been dropping rotting fruit on my driveway and it's hard to prune because it has horrible inch-long thorns. I finally borrowed my BIL's lopper, which helped, and now I have too much green waste to fit in my bin!

Also I have a bunch of pomelos. What can be done with them? I shall have to explore the internet.
