We haven't had cable for ... 8 years? Something like that. The only reason I miss it is because I want to be able to watch Penny Dreadful as it airs.

I think I went to VOIP before I stopped using the TiVo.
Oh, come on Yelp. Not one of the "Best Restaurants in Suisun City" is actually in Suisun. That's not right.
ETA: y'all want to tell me where to go for lunch? I've got Italian, Greek, Thai, several Mexican options, a couple of diners and a couple of Bar & Grills.
I probably should take this to Tech, but since I'm shopping for a new Mini Mac now, I'm wondering how much of a difference in performance I'd get between:
2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
vs.
2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
Because Apple seems to think that's worth $300.
No difference. What you really want to do is max out the memory.
And don't pay Apple to max out the memory, because they overcharge for it; buy your memory from somewhere like Small Dog or NewEgg and install it yourself.
(Wait. It's been 4 years since I last bought a Mac; is that still true?)
Unfortunately, if you're buying a recent vintage Mac Mini, the RAM is not upgradeable.
Damn you, Apple. It wasn't upgradeable in my MBP, either (and while my husband lives his life by the motto "If you can't open it, you don't own it" and tries to void every warranty he can, I would prefer not opening up a laptop that Apple doesn't want me to open).
But seriously, the Minis can't be opened now, either? Bullshit, Apple. Upgrading memory is fun!
...I may need a new hobby.
My cable/internet is provided by a group deal via my landlord, so I couldn't change service providers if I wanted to.
Same, but the deal is good. I love having cable! I realize I could do all the same stuff with TiVo and Hulu and Netflix and whatever, but I like my DVR and On Demand! I am lazy.
I like my DVR and On Demand! I am lazy.
me too...
I like being able to record the shows I want to watch and then watch them whenever I want without having to download anything or try to find where to stream them, or not be able to FF through commercials and ads. I was listening to Pandora yesterday and it interrupted my reverie about every five songs with an ad. Jeepers, I would rather pay for it.
My TiVo is key, that I agree with, but it costs way less than cable and I have enough network shows that I watch, I can supplement with Netflix and catching up on old seasons of the premium cable shows.
