I'm not sure how old he is, but I heard him use the word 'newfangled' one time, so he's gotta be pretty far gone.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

They aren't sure what caused it; they did lab work and X-rays and nothing turned up related to the vomiting, so they treated her to stop it. Now the concern is that her spleen looked enlarged on the X-ray, which may lead to ultrasound. The spleen scares me because my last Shep had a mass on her spleen that led to major surgery and a lot of worry. I'm trying not to think about it.

Anyway, we are finally home and she has perked up. She's able to keep water down, and I'll feed her chicken and rice tomorrow.

I need to eat something. I am running short on spoons tonight.

I vote you make her chicken and rice tonight and then spice up a portion for you! May a round of meds fix it right up.

Just want to take a minute to thank everyone for letting me use Natter to worry tonight. You’re the best. I’m going to go to sleep and hope for good news tomorrow.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Thinking best-possible-care, loving and healing thoughts for Kaylee and the pup, and for you and ND, Pix.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh, too much doggy trouble! Fingers crossed for you all!

There are definitely casinos in PA -- my Mom used to go to one because there were organized trips every week to the one near Philly, which was built around a pre-existing racetrack. I'm not much on gambling (I hate to lose money more than I like to win it) but I was happy to take her and let her enjoy herself.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

My folks like to go to the little riverboat casino in their town, have the buffet, and spend $20 each on slots. And their only real vacation ever was a road trip to Vegas. I ain't hating -- some people really enjoy it.

There's a Chana Joffe-Walt and a Jude Joffe-Block now working for NPR and that's very confusing in the morning. Sisters, maybe?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

JFC. I'm supposed to have a call at 10 along with one of our senior people, and got an email this morning that may or may not indicate that she is bailing and I NEED TO KNOW ASAP. So I can cancel on the outside person! SO SO BAD.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oy, good luck with that, Jesse.

When my alarm went off this morning I was really angry at it, sure it was Saturday today and I did not actually have to wake up. Guess it's been a long week.

I hate to lose money more than I like to win it

Oh, there's a term for that! Losing a thing we have seems worse than gaining a thing we don't have seems good, in general.

OK, I can stand down for the minute -- the call is apparently happening. Assuming we can actually reach the internal person who is actually in Sudan right now. Fuck everything.
