Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter

I have been putting off decluttering in the bedroom, both from the endless memories and the lack of distraction in there as I work. The radio isn't sufficient, I need something with a storyline I can put my mind into. So I went and bought myself a portable DVD player, which I've been thinking of doing for a while. I found one that also takes USB and SD cards, so I've also got a way to play all the BBC documentaries I've been downloading off You Tube.
It's much much lighter than a laptop and so much easier to work with, and when it's running off an SD card I can pick it up while it's playing and shift it around without messing anything up.
I think I might even get rid of the second laptop I've had on my desk, because I was primarily using it as a DVD and video player, and this takes up much less space. I know young people who would be delighted to have a decent laptop--once I make sure I've pulled all the porn off of it.
ION, I now have Meyer Lemon Pudding Cakes in the oven.
WANT.
The bad news is, I think there were only maybe 4 people behind me in the 10K. The good news is, I was still FIVE MINUTES FASTER than the last time I ran one--and even faster, per mile, than the 5K I ran just three weeks ago!! So, that was awesome.
Then I went and walked around the outlet mall and tried clothes on. Though at one store it was so crazy I tried things on and by the last thing was almost glad it didn't fit because I didn't want to stand in line to buy just one thing.
Other bad thing, though, is that driving the hour plus home from the mall meant when I got out of the car, my knee was horribly painful. It had been slightly twingey, but apparently REALLY didn't like driving. Ow. Have taken NSAID and have ice on it.
Woo, meara! That's rough about the knee. Driving after a race always seems to hurt something.
Brava, Meara! Sending healing vibes towards your knee.
My poor kid, her fever fell and then spiked again. She's acting nearly normal - ordering the dog around, eating, lying to us about brushing her teeth, winning at monopoly, . . . but not quite right. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we are not here alone tomorrow with a cake designed to feed 60+.
Ouch, meara!
Yay, speedy meara! Boo, ouchy knee.
I hope she bounces back before tomorrow, Sparky.
I am sick. Not sick enough to get out of anything I have to do, but sick like I'm taking Theraflu and Sudafed. I hope I have not created a meth lab in my body.
In the spirit of decluttering, I am doing our annual book sweep -- trying to get rid of books the kids have outgrown. Good bye, Elephant and Piggie! But I do have to keep Judy Blume now.
A cake for 60+? Mmmm. That sounds delicious....
A friend of mine is having a birthday party/dance about half a mile away. I want to go and feel like I should go, but am not sure it's really a good idea. But then I thought "there's probably yummy desserts, surely?" So now I'm feeling incentivized to find something cute to wear.
Yay for faster time, meara! Sorry about the knee, though. Knees are such fragile things.
Pot roast and cakes were very tasty. Now I'm debating on whether I want another glass of wine or switch to one of the beers I've got in the fridge.
Wine or beer... both sound like good choices.
