Oh, dear. Admire my back to nature coolness, I spend $100 a month to maintain this look (your overpriced hipster maintenance may vary, what do I know, I live in Utah)
Maybe I somehow grew up in a beard-heavy environment, but that was not a particularly noteworthy beard and did not ping me as hipsterish.
I like my grey, which is kind of sparkly white like fishing line, and my stylist has told me on several occasions that she will not allow me to color it as she loves it. There does seem to be more of it every time I get my hair cut (I don't look in mirrors much in my daily life) and I'm ambivalent about that.
I'm 80% grey; I'm not ready to be that gray, so I faithfully color it every 4-6 weeks. When I am ready, it will be a beautiful silver grey.
The Caps lost in OT in Game 7. To the fucking Rangers. I'm heartbroken. They blew a 3-1 lead... again. The last time they made it out of the second round was in 1998 when they actually went to the Finals. I don't know why I expected this year to be different. Now my loyalties are no longer divided. Go Blackhawks!
I *say* that I'm ready for some silver/white, and I even mean it (or believe that I mean it)...but I suspect that when they finally show up, I'll be all "NOT READY!" (And I seriously don't know why I have zero silver hairs yet, when my younger brother is already pretty damn silver.)

Tim's (hipster) former hairstylist stopped cutting hair to focus all his efforts on his new business of small-batch, hand-made, artisanal beard grooming products. No, really. (My neighborhood wants to be Portland [or Austin] SO HARD.)

Truer words, man.
One of the only people I have ever met who looked good in that sort of beard also made white guy dreads look good. So I think he was a unicorn.
He was also, apparently, one of the few trust fund kids on campus who was actually there for the academics, not the weed, and planned on going on to teach math after a few degrees. I am told when he was drunk, his upper class New England accent came on full-force, but I never heard it.
I am totally ready for my roots to turn all silver, because I really, REALLY want all-pink hair (with dyed black bangs and streaks in the front). I want it NOW. I just don't want to bleach my entire head AND strip out the decades of black dye that is there.

That is adorable. And awesome, but my first reaction was "Aaaaww, so indie!"
Whenever I see fashion beards and mustaches, I think of swimming and hope to hell they shampoo well. Like it or not, I snot when I swim, and I've seen the faces, so does everyone. I see facial hair as booger bush. Uhg

Sorry, Maria. That sucks. I will root against the Rangers in Round 3 because they made you sad.
That sucks.
What sucks even more is that the Caps were less than 2 minutes from winning the series in Game 5. Sucked the air right out of them.
I will root against the Rangers in Round 3 because they made you sad.
That is love and true friendship. Thank you.
