Drove out to matti tuck and back on Saturday for 6 hour round trip. Drove up to NH for a whirlwind 12 hour round trip Sunday and Monday. Oldest son asked "why the hell are you here?" Um, to see Mom? Weeded her flower beds and slept on the sectional with Mom, which was hella comfy. Much better than my old bed that, even though oldest son isn't sleeping in anymore, the whole room is filled with his crisp and stinks of cigarettes.
Apparently he was detoxed completely in the ER and hasn't had a drink in three days and is very sleepy, so he was like a ghost during my short stay, which was relieving. Since my goal was Mom, I hugged him hello and goodbye and otherwise got away with ignoring him for the must part. I had to throw out the slice of pear he stole a bite if, though, it nauseated me that much.
I feel better having seen Mum's injuries for myself and her pain isn't terrible, which I'm glad for.
And now I'm armed with the info that I can do a 12 hour round trip in two days to satisfy family obligations without stressing myself.
Well, my afternoon turned into kind of a clusterfuck, but it all turned out OK in the end. I guess. Oy.
Left my phone at work. So that's swell.
Have not gotten to the ends of today's clusterfucks, alas.
Grades are in! I'm heading out to a colleague's retirement dinner.
Ugh -t, Monday can stop any time!
Second night of driving to and swimming at Towson. Still hate the drive. Getting better at turns in that pool and not slamming my hand into the wall. So far, the worst lane sharers; I have been clawed and kicked by old white dudes. Ladies and teens are marginally better. Sucky water pressure in the showers. You'd think in a brand new sports facility, good water pressure in the showers might be a thing, but no. Takes forever to rinse the shampoo out. Otoh, at least it is a saltwater pool, so less of an issue of dechlorinating oneself.
I want my pool back!
Well, I"m turning off my workbrain until tomorrow, so that's sort of the end of Monday.
Oh, man, showers with poor water pressure are so disappointing. Salt water pool sounds nice, though.
Enjoy the retirement party, Burrell!
It's not as nice as the filtered ocean pools in Aus. Hello, super bouyancy! And really soft skin after.
You do note the absence of chlorine most (still some, but you can't tell unless you really sniff hard) and regular water tastes slightly sweet after. Chlorine doesn't bug me unless it's at extreme level, though. I know folks with more sensitivity than I love the difference.
