No meetings, but I am currently in a state of bogglement that I have an author who didn't answer 28 queries in an article they just returned. We don't ask those queries for funsies; they're substantial questions, like "Your data in the 3 categories don't add up to your reported total; please clarify or change," or "Wording is unclear; is this correct as edited?", etc.
I've had authors skip (or ignore) 2 or 3 queries before, but 28 is a new league record for me. That's not a mistake; that's just deliberate not giving a shit.
Fortunately, that level of jackassery allows me to send a sanctioned email that basically says "I don't know what your problem is, but we won't publish you if you can't bother to answer these questions. So either answer them or kiss your sweet, sweet publication byline goodbye." (But, you know, worded differently.)
Sheesh. Imma go make some lunch now.
Man, I wish I were lounging in a hotel room right now! Instead I had meetings at 9, 10, 11:15, and now 1. After that I can do some work.
I feel a little bad because Bob has meetings booked solid from 10:30 to 5:30 today. And his work here is the reason I get to lounge in this sweet, sweet hotel room all morning!
I did just book a trip to go to NC to stay with my nieces and nephew there so their parents can take their first, ever overnight trip together without the kids since their eldest was born almost 17 years ago! I'm really looking forward to being able to hang out with the kids, we don't get to see each other nearly enough, but it won't be a relaxing trip by any means. It's a self-proclaimed "neuro-diverse" household with two teenage girls and one, high energy 7-year old boy! The younger girl and the boy will be in school still so I'm hoping my older niece and I can sit quietly near each other reading a lot.
I'm at SeaTac waiting for the plane that takes me home. Lovely quick vacation. Ready to be home now.
Okay, I'm too hungry to stay in bed much longer. But what should I get for lunch?
That's good of you, Lisah--hope it's lots of fun.
I am full of dread and procrastinating because this site doesn't seem to have totally cleaned up their act, but did so just enough for me to not be able to put the ban hammer down (yay Teppy for having a sanctioned email there!)
In two months I'll be lounging in a hotel room in Vegas, alternating with lounging by a pool in Vegas, alternating with wandering incredibly silly shopping forums in Vegas.
And now I'm off to meet my new manager.
I'm home after 6 hours wrangling 2nd graders at our district STEM fair. Our class had 12 kids participate (on one project!) so there was a lot of cat-herding to do. I should be logging on to my work computer now since I have about 3 hours to myself, but I'm so tired I'm not sure I can be trusted to send professional sounding emails. (And I did schedule this as a full personal day off, so. Also I have to dye my hair. PRIORITIES I HAZ THEM.)

What a great thing to do with your time, though!
But what should I get for lunch?
Burrito.
