"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I've known women who had PEO scholarships.

Because books.

I've never heard of PEO. Which is not surprising, I guess.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'd never heard of PEO, either.

brillig

The P.E.O. Sisterhood is passionate about its mission: promoting educational opportunities for women.

The dean of a university that is lackadaisical about making sure women have equal academic opportunities wakes abruptly. Someone's in his bedroom, a masked woman. "The Sisterhood has been watching, Dean. You've slashed the budget for scholarships outside of the athletic department again."

"Martha? Honey, is that you?"

The woman disappeared into the shadows, leaving only those ominous letters on the wall: P.E.O.

awesome, Connie.

So Dad's got a bladder infection, sigh. They're really common in the elderly, and contribute to dementia. He seems okay, though. Still, we're taking him to Chicago/Wisconsin for a week, and I suspect it's going to be a stressful time.

I've never heard of PEO!

I do not understand why some days I run and it's not so bad (I mean, it still sucks, in that it's running, but...) and other days I can only do a fraction of what I could the time before! It makes no sense. :(

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

(a) Bodies are weird like that and (b) progress in general kinda goes that way for everything.

Molecular gastronomy update (haven't done one of those in a while): attempt #2 at Mango Foam, using pureed mango instead of Apricot Mango Juice Blend is better but maybe too thick for the siphon. Not done with this recipe yet.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Speaking of recipes, I recently found an old recipe of my mom's for poached salmon, written in her own hand. It's poached in half and half, which sounds both decadent and delicious. I must try it one of these days.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Here's the recipe:

The Easiest Poached Salmon
1 salmon filet
1/2 to 3/4 cup half and half
1/2 tsp chives, basil, or chopped fresh dill
Salt and pepper if you like
Bake for 30 minutes, occasionally spooning some of the half and half over the salmon

(Note my mom's use of the Oxford comma)
