How old is the car, Burrell?

Sorry to disappear on you. The power went out for a couple hours. (No seriously, that's what happened.)

The car is 12 year old, 170,000+ miles on it. We got another mechanic to look at it and his estimate was more than $1000 less, plus a 2 year guarantee. So will likely go with that, but still this means it's time to start thinking about a new car.

Somebody is not now speaking to me on the book of the face because I pointed out that thinking that Gaza shouldn't be bombed is not the same as hating Israel. When she objected, I pointed out that not liking Obama's policies is not the same as being anti-American.

I'm getting some grief from certain members of my family because I refuse to share the IDF facebook posts about how the IDF is actually the most moral and humanitarian army in the world.

I have a phone screen tomorrow! And today, despite a bit of lightheadedness, I'm going to the Life Drawing Workshop. And then tomorrow I'll take the car in to get the window replaced.

It's almost like plan-having.

Even if they were, that only would say something about the competition, and not about their moral rightness!

I never thought I'd buy a new car- but look at what financing options are out there. That (plus utter vehicular breakdown exhaustion) lead me to new. Couldnt really beat 0% 5 year loan vs 1.5% on used for just a few grand less (plus tired of waiting for the next breakdown.) Of course, still appalled at what new cars cost!

And the mortgage refi made up the monthly diff. That made the new monthly bite easier. But had I known the mental relief? The refi wouldn't have mattered.

But take advantage of a breather, if you can.

Bobby's car needs a clutch, and brake work, and other stuff. I'm still debating whether to invest more. It is likely worth it. But still hard to commit.

That is a good point -- especially if there's an excellent warranty and other perks, I'd consider a 0% 5-year loan on a new car.

Man, we refinanced last year right before I lost my job. Such perfect timing. And now that freelancing is doing decently for me, I can think about having a car payment again. (Although, man, I don't think I've had a car payment for 6 or 7 years. That's going to make me sad. I wish we were in the position to pay cash, but we're not. At least not for the age/mileage of a car we want. But we can make a respectable down payment.)

After spending more time with the Ford C-Max - I HATE the touch screen interface. Maybe because it is a rental or maybe it is just THAT hard to find the sweet spot for each touch. It is mad making.
