I'm listening to Tim giving directions to someone on the phone, and he's NOT GIVING THE NAME OF THE STREET. What the shit, husband? "It's past the record store...at the corner where you turn to get to our house."
Is it SO HARD to say the name of the street???
I am perhaps a little anxiety-ridden today. I would take an ativan, but then I would fall asleep and not be able to finish my work, which is, ironically, an article about serotonin's role in social anxiety. (I am not making this up. When my boss assigned me the article, I laughed and laughed. She doesn't know about my anxiety, so it's totally random. And/or the universe laughing at me.)
I would love to know why I'm still waking up in a panic, four days into vacation, myself. Not even about anything in particular! Just with an anxious stomach. At least today it was 8ish and not 6ish like yesterday. Annoying!
I did a little more yardwork! And some more laundry! I think I'm going to bring some winter things to the drycleaner now, and then get a new book from the library....
I just had to turn off the radio to avoid ragegasms. On Here&Now, the reporter is repeating all the false , horrific talking points. No, the people cleaning up aren't the same ones who destroyed it. They're the neighbors, the people who LIVE THERE. Unless you mean all those black peoples. Jesusfuckingchrist. Get the fuck out of my town.
I'm home. At Penn&North, they're cleaning up the burned CVS. [link]
They're singing songs [link] [link] They're registering voters. Just go to his Twitter (he's a reporter.) Red Emma's has been taking food donations and making meals for all the kids out of school. [link] And @molotovflicker too.
City Ys are open until 9, with after school programs running all day.
This is the bended and broken community. But we're still that. But this happened for a reason. Don't tell just part of the story.
And so quick, it turns. Do you think the cops in riot gear had something to do with that?!
And it's the people who defuse it [link]
(My 10 year old neighbor's teacher from last year is one of the 300 Men, an anti violence group.)
I just watched a phenomenal interview with 2 members of the love line on CNN. Understanding for what the police are dealing with right now, no tolerance for those who want to create trouble, and absolute joy at those who want to show what Baltimore really is. It's their city and they are going to take care of it themselves.
I went to lunch with one of my co-workers and one of the things we talked about was how Facebook is a minefield of people being jerks about Baltimore. Fortunately, she and I were on common ground, so that was a nice little oasis.
Had to get off the train because the train ahead of us killed a pedestrian. At least there's a bus I can take the rest of the way home.
I'm a little afraid to come to your city, tommyrot...
