Sometimes you gotta skip and skim. Glad it's for a good reason!

Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter

So... I took the cats to the vet today, the kitten to be spayed and chipped, the old gal to be bathed and shaved. Kitten came through it all just fine, you'd barely know she'd had major abdominal surgery. They sent her home with pain meds! That was a new one for me. Vets these days, so forward thinking.
Folly, our older cat, well that was a different story. As background, we have known for a while that she isn't well. She's blind, and she has some sciatica in her hips. Vet freaked out though when he listened to her heart, so we got an impromptu x-ray and blood panel and she has a hugely enlarged heart and an arrhythmia. He sent her home with some meds, and he counseled that she has a few more months. But for now, she's comfortable enough and most certainly loved and cared for enough.
When she heard, Frances wanted to move Folly to her bedroom so she could take care of her. She brought in her food and water and her litter box. But the cat is roaming of course, so we will let her pick her spots and I guess instead we will corral the kitten when we leave the house so she doesn't strong arm Folly when we are gone.
Just caught up on Grey's--I'm with Brenda, especially living in Seattle I have NO IDEA where the heck his 'shortcut' would possibly exist. But I too was like "Uh, you didn't CALL HIS NEUROSURGEON SISTER for either a consult or to come say goodbye? I understand not wanting to leave him hanging and hope and pray for nothing, but geez lady, give people a chance to say goodbye? Especially if they're local??"
I also thought that when she looked at the chart, she would see the unacceptable neuro response time and take him to task on that. Maybe she'll still sue the hospital or the guy? Though would she need to (I'm assuming Derek has insurance, and they've got the hospital/plane crash money)
I'm sorry about Folly, Burrell.
Thanks Calli. In a weird way, this wasn't as dire news as it could have been. She doesn't have long, but she's not miserable in the meantime. So there's that.
Hey sarameg, why does NASA TV suck so much? *grump*
Hey everyone! I will never be caught up in Natter again. Turns out having a job I actually care about means no more internet time.
Sucks, doesn't it?
Burrell, I hope Folly is as comfortable as you can keep her for as long as she wants to be around.
I'm sorry about Folly.
My best friend from 3rd grade through high school, had two younger sisters who loved playing with my hair. It was long and a totally different texture than theirs. I'd spend hours over at their house, doing homework or whatever, with the girls brushing & styling my hair the whole time. Hell, sometimes even the brother would get in on it. And he was only 10 months younger than me, and only boy in the family. You'd think he'd be over doing the girls' hair. I think some of the fascination was it was so fine, but there was a lot of it. Hell, that reminds me: senior year of hs, found out one of my guy friends who sat behind me a lot (first, because of alphabet, later, by choice) would surreptitiously play with my hair. Through 5 years of classes. I only found out at the end. Everyone else knew, assumed I did too. Funny.
And now it's short.
Una, I don't know? About only time I watch it is during launches & servicing missions!
I'm sorry about Folly, but I'm glad she's comfortable.
