Uhg, flea.
It's becoming increasingly clear to me why so many IT projects here are implemented at a glacial pace; I'd always assumed it was because of security reqs but finding more that they don't really understand the concept of a test cycle. More of an endless development and firefighting phase and everyone cross fingers and pray. This is really, really painful. My team is about ready to kill them.
Back when I was part of usability at my last job.one of our tasks was to explicitly make sure usability was covered during the software development lifecycle. So I studied the documentation on the SDLC we'd been given, disagreed massively with my boss, and in the end, the group we gave it to?
Said they didn't use a formal lifecycle. Take a moment and look back on the most recent things you've been dinged for, and...
And just after I posted, 3 weeks into the test cycle, I just received a RFC on a draft requirements testing doc in which some of the items that need to be tested are "not working yet" in the doc.
This was supposed to be stable in test (not still figuring out reqs in dev!!) a week from today. It's slipped a month, I expect it will slip more (our side is done, tested and working. However it's contingent on theirs being stable and functional.)
paging Kate P: I finally boxed up the costumes that N & G have grown out of (pirate, knight, doctor, police officer) and would love to send them. Can you send me your address so I can post them?
Insent, Kat, and thank you!
Stupid people! Stupid people in my headset!
For those so inclined: Batmam/Haunted Mansion mashup shirts/prints. Very cool.

I’m sitting next to the cutest little baby Shep. She’s our latest foster from Westside German Shepherd Rescue (and before anyone makes any cracks, we’ve successfully fostered two other pups after failing with Newton—no really, we aren’t adopting her). Her name for now is Maxie. She’s got some healing to do, poor thing. She’s malnourished and dehydrated and has conjunctivitis in one eye and an upper respiratory infection—but with meds and TLC she will recover and be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, cuteness!
Pix, is that the one with the adorable ears on your book of the face?
