The big bit of drama in my previously drama-free family is over a cousin's disapproved-of husband likely having been involved in arson, cue shunning of said cousin and their kids. Mom occasionally ties herself up in knots trying to rationalize that my cousin knew nothing about the scheme so she can be supportive. I flat out told Mom I don't care if she was a willing conspirator; no people or pets were harmed and I'm not going to hold property damage against a relative unless it was my property getting burned down.
The wind is so high here that it's ripping at the siding on the building, causing large bangs and the building to shake. 25 people were hurt and 1 died in rollovers on the freeway across the desert. I pray it's calmed down in an hour and a half, but I'm not hopeful.
I think we have the second verse of The Perfect Country Song!
Isn't that the verse about driving the truck with the dog to pick Mama up at the train station after she gets out of jail?
Ok, that's some scary wind, Connie.
shrift, I'm just shaking my head. I do not understand some people.
Are you getting a refund? Yes. It's in Fresno.
Wait, you mean everyone in the whole country uses the Fresno address for a refund? All these years I just assumed that only Californians used it. I R DITZ.
It's all a PO Box in Fresno, but the box number and zip code vary based on what state you live in.

What's odd about that? she asked innocently.
And here I was thinking it was Fresno, OH or something. I have possibly never actually mailed a tax return from a state other than California, I jumped on the e-filing bandwagon pretty quick.
Stay safe, Connie! The radio was just telling me there were high wind warnings for the next day or so in SoCal and the eastern Sierra, too, so y'all take care as well.
Suffice to say that one guy's solution was to pull the document up on his laptop, then sign his name on a post-it and stick the post it on the screen, then use his phone to snap a picture of this and send it to me.
Someone has watched too much Grey's Anatomy.
I think my interview thingy went pretty well. It was supposed to be a 30-minute chat about my background, went on for over an hour. I definitely have a leg up with my knowledge of internal computing systems, and the job as described is something I could do and probably would like well enough. Not obviously a far superior position for me than my current one, which is also kind of nice because now I feel zero pressure. I realized earlier today, it's 10 years since I got that degree, haven't used it much but I'm still paying the student loans, so having a job that used some of my education would be satisfying.
She doesn't expect this to be a quick process - I may hear something by the end of the month, which would mean a second screening that would be followed by two to four interviews or meetings with higher ups. Some of whom I've already met one way or another, so maybe that would be streamlined, who knows. Anyway, process started, I'm not rejected out of hand, that's always nice.
It's not odd. It's simply what goes into making. The. Best. Country. Western. Song. Ever. [link]
Ya know. Except maybe for Johnny Cash's "One Piece At A Time".
