At the wake there was a cooler of pop and a cooler of booze. I asked if there was anything cold and diet in the pop cooler. My faux-son's wife smiled cheerfully: "We don't have diet drinks in the house, they're cans of chemical death." I blinked amiably back at her: "I'm diabetic, sugar is poison." Three other people made the same remark to her when told how evil diet drinks are.

Fortunately there's a 7-11 a block from their house and teenagers with lots of energy.

edit: The tap water in our town is horrible, also.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wow. I really liked Miss Congeniality but for some reason I never watched the serial.

Now, at the time it was clear the original was an out-of-nowhere fun piece of fluff, not cinematic quality.

The sequel is studiously bad. I mean, fuck, I'm looking at the credits and can't work out why they'd use those fonts together. That's how bad it is. Script, acting, plotting, costuming, end to end crap, and they even fuck up the fonts (oh, the actors weren't really even enjoying the pre-credit gags). I guess the only reason some of the songs don't suck is because they are not a product of the movie. But even their choice was lame.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I never saw the first one and now I kinda want to settle down and watch them both.

It's probably good that I am hitting a peak (oh, god, I hope this is a peak) in my frustration with my own incompetence the day before I talk to my new psych treatment provider for eval, right? Maybe I should take actual notes instead of just mental notes.

The second's not even bad enough to be interesting. Flat in aspect.

Anyone use Espionage Cosmetics? It's a for nerd by nerd line. Too much foofurrah for me, but I thought I'd bring it up in case anyone was interested.

The first one (Miss Congeniality) was cute and fun, I enjoyed it. The second one I only saw part of, and yes, it was awful.

Perhaps your friend needs a hobby.(my eyeroll at him is dedicated to the memory of Jim Garner, because that was one of his many talents.)

I'm unlikely to actually start up a Miss Congeniality marathon, but I am curious now about how bad I would find that second one.

Well played, erika. He'd appreciate that memorial, I think.

Ravelry reminds me of the old Table Talk boards, everything is up for grabs.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hey, has anyone tried that lightweight kitty litter?

Which litter is this? I use Fresh&Light and we like it.

I was looking at Tidy Cat Lightweight. Is the Fresh and Light noticeably lighter to haul around?
