Timelies all!
I plan on staying where I am, work-wise, as long as I can. If not this lab, then at least the same agency.

I think I've given up on the idea of "when I grow up". Not happening.
I'm 54, if I'm not grown up now, I'll never be.
A friend of mine posted on Facebook: "I am the poster child for impostor syndrome," she said, secretly believing she didn't deserve to be the poster child for anything.
If nothing else, that NYT article took like ten paragraphs to actually define FOMO. That can't be good journalism.
I kind of feel as though I'm having my retirement first. Does that mean I'll be crazy-busy when I'm sixty? Watch this space. Funny, that article was kindof TL:DR, but I also think it conflated two things(Or at least, memes like that dumb dress rarely factor into my FOMO, which I thought meant the sad that you get when your wall has more fun than you.)
Congrats on making it through the second round. Do you know when you can expect to learn more?
Thank you! I kinda forgot to ask when I'd hear, but this was the final round so I expect I'll know one way or the other pretty soon.
And to you too, good luck and break a leg and GO YOU. I want you to land something you'll love soon.
My five year plan is to finish setting up the global operations where I currently am (at a drug company) and then have one of my reports take over and cut back to either P/T or consulting to 24 hours a week.
And take the other hours a week to tutor Oakland kids.
I am not going to go back to school to be a teacher so this is the next best thing.
Nanita, one of my coworkers and I think what we should really do is start an IRB. On the one hand, most of them don't seem to do much. On the other hand, she and I are skeptical and would be very suspicious of many protocol deviations and safety issues. Win! ;) plus we could go audit the sites in places we wanted to go to.
...either that or win the lottery.
Tep, sadly, that's not available during our block. Woe! (This is why I am checking things now, natch.)
Search VRBO for other places -- a lot of them are really reasonably priced, you can pick the neighborhood you want, and it's really nice to have a whole apartment to spread out in, rather than just a hotel room.
